About me and my therapy practice

I have been working as a counsellor for nearly 13 years and have experience in various settings, including short-term as well as long-term work.

I have also worked in specialized counselling services which provide counselling for victims of sexual abuse. I worked as a locum counsellor at a university for 5 years, providing counselling for students. I also worked with Victim Support, which is a charity organization who provides support to people who have been victim of crime, like domestic abuse and stalking.

I have worked with clients with PTSD, trauma, depression, anxiety, sexual abuse, domestic abuse, OCD, eating disorder, relationship issues, suicidal thoughts, bereavement and self-harm and more.

Currently I am working with NHS, I received training for Person Centered Experiential Counselling for Depression (PCE-CfD), and I am providing counselling for clients with severe depression.

Last year in April I completed my EMDR training and now working with clients who have experienced trauma, and I am also working with anxiety.

I completed my Diploma in Gestalt therapy  in 2012, and  BA(Hons.) in Humanistic Counselling in 2014.

Practice description

I provide a safe place for a client to discuss and explore their issues.

At times clients feel they are stuck in a situation and find it unable to move forward, i explore with them where they feel stuck and discuss with them what they need to move forward.

Also, sometimes clients are repeating certain behaviours and patterns from their past which are now not helping them, i explore with them to identify these behaviours and patterns and adapt to the new ways, how they would like to do things now.

My first session

When a client contacts me, i usually have a brief chat with them for 10 minutes to discuss what they need from the sessions, and provide basic information how i work.

The first session is an assessment which is about 45-50 minutes long. where i will take history of the client and the issues they are facing and what they are struggling with. Also, it includes taking basic information including GP name and an emergency contact.

I also ask the client to sign a Counselling Agreement which states the fee for the sessions and cancellation policies.

At the assessment i will ask the client to agree a date to start therapy.
