About me and my therapy practice
Currently working online.
As an experienced Psychodynamic Psychotherapist, I am qualified to work with Adults, Couples and Young People (12-18). My work has a focus on our connection with ourselves, and relationships with others. Usually including some presentation of anxiety and low mood.
Counselling can provide an opportunity for you to think and talk in confidence about personal or emotional difficulties that are worrying you. It is a time and space for you to open up, examine, reflect and begin to understand the root of your troubles. It will offer you a space to explore them, build your resilience and develop different ways of dealing with them.
At the heart of counselling, is the relationship between you and your Counsellor. So, it is important that you find someone with whom you like and trust. I hope that the information found here, and the video and testimonials that are available to read on my website, will help you decide if I am the right counsellor for you.
Thank you for your interest and I hope to hear from you soon.
Practice description
My experience of working with both adults and children has given me vast experience and a deep understanding of working with childhood trauma, and how this can present in adulthood. Evidence has shown that anxiety and low mood can frequently be traced back to some form of trauma.
Acknowledging and addressing this can begin the work of moving on, but I know that this can sometimes feel insurmountable.
Sometimes when there is trauma, or unresolved “unconscious stuff”. We can find ourselves unconsciously repeating patterns of behaviours, that we perhaps don’t understand, that no longer help us.
When we begin to work through the unresolved trauma, explore where it originated from and begin to process the attached emotions. We then become more aware of our “unconscious stuff” and how it shows up. With this new awareness and insight, we can then move to a more conscious way of being, understanding and responding.
Understanding your subconscious mind is a journey of self-discovery. Healing old wounds and unlearning negative patterns takes time. As we peel back the layers, you may uncover limiting beliefs and fears that have held you back. Relearning involves adopting new beliefs, that will support your growth and personal development.
When we begin to understand and notice our unhelpful coping strategies/patterns quicker. We can then look into new ways of being and responding, that fits better with who we are. Resulting in a greater understanding of ourselves, realising we now have choice in how we respond and notice a change in how we show up within relationships and, for ourselves.
I hope me explaining the outlines of how I work has been helpful in supporting your understanding of my modality and who I am as a therapist.
I hope to hear from you soon.
My first session
At our first session, we would talk about your reasons for contacting me and what you are looking for within this Counselling space.
Within this session, there would be time for you to ask me any questions you may have around how I work, my theoretical approach and anything else you need to know.
This 50 minute paid session would hopefully offer you sufficient time to get a sense of me and how I work. To give you an idea if I am the right therapist for you, or not. To then decide if you would like to move forward.
If time permitted and you wished too. We would begin to look at contracting for the work, based on what you have brought into the session. This would cover frequency of sessions, an initial duration for the work and begin to think about your aims and goals for the work.
I understand that for some, it is important to have a brief introductory call in advance of booking in. To meet and get a sense of me. To help decide if I am the right therapist for you, or not.
These free, 15 minute Zooms calls would not offer sufficient time to explore at any depth your reasons for contacting me, but would offer some time for you to ask any pressing questions you may have.
Whichever option feels right for you, please do get in touch and let me know.

Practice description
I have been working as a Clinical Supervisor in educational and private settings, since 2015.
I have previously been employed as a supervisor offering clinical supervision to therapists working with children and young people. Within my Private Practice, I also work with supervisees who counsel adults and couples. As a ƵAccredited Psychotherapist, I am qualified to work with adults, couples and young people.
My main theoretical approach is Psychodynamic, but I work from an eclectic model, drawing from my experience as a therapist and supervisor, focusing on the supervisees needs.
My manner is relational and relaxed. I understand the seriousness of the work we do with our clients but approach my responsibility as a clinical supervisor with curiosity, compassion and humor, when appropriate.
Within our contracting, I would bring in reviews of our working relationship to ensure that our evolving clinical thinking space, is as supportive and enriching as you, the supervisee needs.
As a qualified supervisor, I work from the Seven Eyed Model of Supervision. Which, in short, means I encourage my supervisees to bring their whole selves to our meetings. The “seven eyes” include: the client; interventions used; counsellor/client relationship; the counsellor; supervisor/supervisee relationship; the supervisor and the systems. The structure of this modality can help supervisees to bring focus to all areas of their work. It is also a useful tool, when we review our work and relationship, to encourage a balance overview of our clinical thinking space. I have also found that this model encourages a good degree of reflection on clinical practice, and in turn supports growth and professional development.
I know how difficult it is to find and choose a supervisor, so I am very happy to meet on Zoom for an initial chat. To see if our personalities and modalities suit and explore the potential of us working together.
So please do get in touch.
