About me and my therapy practice

I’ve been practising psychotherapy for around 15 years, with a consistent focus on integrating critical and systemic perspectives with warmth, humanity and open, supportive exploration.

Alongside my clinical work—which has included time in the NHS, lecturing at Regent’s University and couples therapy with Relate—I’ve also been active in gender justice, anti-racist facilitation, and transformative justice spaces in collaboration with activists and community organisers.

Currently, I’m pursuing an MA in Caribbean Cultural Studies and have a special interest in supporting queer, non-monogamous and sex-positive communities in my work.

All of this speaks to what I’m committed to: creating therapeutic spaces where the personal and the political are both recognised and valued. If you’re looking for a therapist who can hold your experience as shaped by larger systems as well as by your own story—someone who sees those layers as interconnected—I hope you’ll feel that there’s room here for you.

My first session

In the first session I talk about confidentiality, fees, breaks and absences and ask about what's bringing you to therapy. It's also a chance for us to get a sense of if we want to work together, although sometimes that takes more time to figure out. I charge the same amount for all sessions. If you're not ready to have a session, and still want some basic information, I'm very happy to have a short chat.

What I can help with

Anxiety, Cultural issues, Loss, Men's issues, Personal development, Relationships, Sexual identity, Sexuality, Spirituality, Stress, Work related issues

Types of therapy

Existential, Phenomenological

Clients I work with

Adults, Couples

About me and my therapy practice

I treat therapy as a practice - one possible part of a wider practice of living an engaged and compassionately critical life. This includes an explicit orientation towards examining the conditions under which we live and relate, rather than necessarily becoming better adjusted to them.

Practice description

As such, my work best suits people who see examining how they live and relate as worthwhile in itself.

My approach is reflective and works via the inter-weaving of the feeling and thinking faculties of the person.

This approach tends to suit people with an interest in patterns, relationships, identity, desire, meaning, conflict and how they participate in their own lives.

I also find my work particularly useful with clients for whom social and political realities aren't merely background to an otherwise private psychological life. They may appreciate a therapist who can think about power, class, gender, sexuality, work, institutions and culture without reducing everything to individual pathology, but who instead works with the intimate relationship between the personal and political.

Couples/relationships:

My work with relationships revolves around supporting people to think seriously about intimacy and what it means. I’m not wedded to restoring relationships under a conventional model. I work with non-monogamies, opening/closing relationships, queer relationships, relationship structures under negotiation, differing needs around autonomy/intimacy, or simply people who don't take the conventional couple-form for granted.

While I don't offer concessionary rates, I do see understanding and responding to people's financial realities as part of the work. I understand therapy as a service in a capitalist marketplace with built in antagonisms between buyer and seller. I think this dynamic is also part of the therapy relationship worth exploring.
