About me and my therapy practice

Steve Neville M±«ÓãÊÓƵ(Accred) MA Dip(Couns) Adv Cert Couples PGCE

Ever feel like you’re living by someone else’s rules, or that you’ve lost touch with who you really are? Maybe you sense you’re not reaching your full potential, or just feel stuck. Therapy can be a space to reconnect with yourself — a place where you’re free to explore who you are, what you want, and what truly matters to you.

I’m a fully qualified person-centred counsellor (±«ÓãÊÓƵAccredited), and my work is rooted in the belief that you are the expert in your own life. My role is to offer a safe, non-judgemental, and genuinely understanding space where you feel heard, accepted, and supported.

A key part of how I work is through congruence — in everyday terms, this means I bring my real, honest self into our sessions. I don’t hide behind professional masks or jargon. You’ll always know where you stand with me. Together, we create a therapeutic relationship built on openness, trust, and mutual respect.

I believe that when someone feels truly seen and understood without judgment, growth and change naturally follow. The relationship we build together is central to the counselling process. You're in charge of your therapy, and I’ll walk alongside you — at your pace — wherever your journey leads.

Alongside my private practice, I work as a counsellor in a busy GP surgery, supporting people with a wide range of emotional and psychological difficulties. I also have experience working with ex-offenders and people in recovery from addiction, and I understand the complex challenges and strengths that can come with those experiences.

I also offer couples counselling, helping partners improve communication, deepen connection, and navigate transitions or difficulties in their relationship.

Whether you’re coming to therapy as an individual or as part of a couple, I will always meet you with authenticity, care, and a deep respect for your autonomy.

Practice description

Individual & Couples Therapy

Counselling is your time — your space — to explore, reflect, and reconnect with yourself. It’s not about being told what to do, but about having the space to really listen to yourself, maybe for the first time in a long time. This is your therapy and your opportunity to grow, make sense of things, and move forward in a way that feels right for you.

You might have reached a point in your life where you feel you’ve lost touch with who you really are. Maybe you’re living in a way that pleases others, but deep down, something feels off. Your own needs, dreams or happiness might feel buried or forgotten — and that can be confusing, lonely, or overwhelming. Or you may simply want space to gain clarity and focus.

As a person-centred counsellor, I believe that when you’re truly heard and accepted without judgement, change happens naturally. I offer a safe, supportive relationship where you can explore whatever’s going on — at your pace, in your own way. You are in control of the process, and I’ll walk alongside you with care, honesty, and respect.

Whether you come to individual counselling, or to relationship counselling / couples therapy, this is a chance to reconnect with yourself — to explore how you feel, what you want, and how to move forward with more confidence, clarity and self-trust.
