About me and my therapy practice

You don鈥檛 have to be falling apart to know you need some space of your own.

We can spend so much time thinking about what needs doing, who needs us and what's coming next, that there isn't always much room left for ourselves.

We can do that for a long time. But what happens when we don't have the space to keep doing it anymore?

Counselling can give you somewhere to slow things down and talk openly about what鈥檚 happening for you. You don鈥檛 need to arrive knowing exactly what you want to talk about, or even knowing whether counselling is going to be right for you.

As a person-centred counsellor, I won鈥檛 tell you what you should do or try to fit you into a box or slot. I鈥檒l listen to what you have to say and try to understand things from your point of view, giving you the time and space to explore what feels important to you.

You might want to explore past experiences or trauma, relationships, parenting or family difficulties, the impact of an abusive relationship, loss or bereavement, or something you鈥檙e currently struggling with. I also have a particular interest in women鈥檚 experiences and women鈥檚 health.

Perhaps you鈥檝e spent a long time looking after other people and, somewhere along the way, lost sight of yourself. Or maybe you simply know that things don鈥檛 feel quite right, but you鈥檙e not sure why.

You may know exactly where you鈥檇 like to start, or you might not have a clue. Either is okay. You don鈥檛 need to have all the answers or explain everything perfectly.

You can just start with where you are.

Practice description

I offer person-centred counselling online, giving you the flexibility to have your sessions somewhere you feel comfortable and have some privacy.

I offer open-ended counselling, so there isn't a fixed number of sessions you have to commit to from the beginning. We can take things at a pace that feels right for you and check in along the way about whether counselling continues to feel helpful.

Some sessions might involve lots of talking. Other times, you might need a little more space to think. There isn't a right or wrong way to do counselling, and you don't have to pretend that things are okay when they aren't.

I'm not there to give you a list of answers or tell you what I think you should do. My role is to listen, understand and help you explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences so that you can make sense of things for yourself.

For me, counselling is about having somewhere you can be yourself and talk honestly about what is going on, without having to put on a brave face or mask

I hold a Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling

Alongside my counselling work, I have professional experience supporting people affected by loss and bereavement, including sudden and traumatic loss. This has given me an understanding that everyone experiences loss differently, and that there is no 鈥渞ight鈥 way to feel or grieve.

I continue to develop my knowledge through relevant CPD and ongoing professional development, including training around grief and loss, self-harm and mental health awareness.
