Availability
I currently offer sessions on Tuesdays between 9.30am and 2.30pm, Wednesdays between 9.30am and 4.45pm, and Fridays between 9.30am and 1pm.
I am not currently available on Mondays or Thursdays.
I work face-to-face, online, walk and talk and offer home-visits if appropriate.
During school holidays, I may work slightly lighter hours, but any changes to regular appointments will always be discussed with clients well in advance.
About me and my therapy practice
I am a real person first and a counsellor second.
My training and experience matter, but I do not believe people heal because a therapist has the perfect technique or all the answers. I believe change begins when you feel safe enough to be yourself in the presence of another person, without judgement, pressure or the expectation that you should be different.
This is your space. You have choice and authority within it.
I will not position myself as the expert on your life or lead you towards a version of healing that I have chosen for you. You know yourself in ways no therapist ever can. My role is to be your guide and ally: to listen closely, remain curious and help you gently make sense of what may have become buried, confused or too difficult to hold alone.
Together, we can explore how your past may still be showing up in the present: in your relationships, the expectations you place on yourself, the ways you respond to conflict, or the strategies you use when life feels overwhelming.
Our work will be collaborative and shaped around you. Some people want space to talk freely. Others find it easier to connect while drawing, using clay, working with sand tray, holding a fidget toy or simply sitting quietly for a while. We can use words, creativity, humour, silence and uncertainty. You will never be expected to engage with an approach that does not feel right for you.
I work in a trauma-informed way, which means that safety, trust and choice come before pushing for disclosure or change. You will not be asked to recount traumatic experiences in detail before you feel ready. If we begin exploring painful experiences, I will keep checking in with you so that we can move at a pace that feels manageable.
Practice description
You do not need to arrive with the right words, a clear goal or a neatly organised version of your story. You do not have to appear strong, calm or clever. You can come exactly as you are.
I believe many of the things we come to dislike or feel ashamed of in ourselves began as intelligent ways of coping, adapting or surviving. Therapy is not about deciding that something is wrong with you and trying to fix it. It can be a place to begin understanding what happened, how you learned to survive it, and what you may need now.
I work with people experiencing anxiety, panic, depression, emotional overwhelm, grief, relationship difficulties, low self-worth and the lasting effects of painful or traumatic experiences. I have a particular interest in complex and relational trauma, attachment wounds, maternal mental health, birth trauma, parenting, female rage and the exhaustion that can come from carrying too much for too long.
You may find yourself longing for closeness while also finding it difficult to trust. You may feel responsible for everyone else, struggle to know what you need, or become overwhelmed by emotions that seem to arrive from nowhere. Perhaps you have spent years appearing capable while privately feeling that you are barely holding things together.
Whatever has brought you here, you do not have to carry it alone.
My first session
Our first session is an initial session for us to get to know each other, and for you to get a sense of whether I feel like the right fit for you.
It is a conversation, and there is no pressure to talk about anything you are not ready for. We can begin with what has brought you to therapy, what has been going on for you, and what you might be hoping for from the work.
If you arrive feeling unsure where to start, that is completely okay. If you feel as though you are bubbling over and need somewhere to put it all, that is welcome too. We will work with wherever you are.
The first session gives us time to gently understand what you need and how I may be able to support you. There is no pressure to commit beyond this session; we can use the time to see how it feels and decide what might be helpful next.
