About me and my therapy practice
If you are feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or disconnected, you don't have to navigate it alone. I will endeavour to demonstrate that you are listened to, respected and understood. Offering honesty and sensitivity, I will provide a safe space and support you as you learn to trust yourself and grow.
As a fully qualified person-centred counsellor, I believe that you are the expert on your own life. My approach is deeply collaborative, gentle, and tailored to you. Alongside my foundation in humanistic therapy, I weave in insights from psychology and neuroscience to help you understand how your mind and body respond to stress and difficult life events. I work in a trauma-informed and neuroaffirmative manner, welcoming and celebrating all minds, including autistic and ADHD individuals, and I will adapt my practice to fit your unique way of experiencing the world. I also have a passionate interest in how nature and visual art can support healing, which can be integrated into our work together.
Prior to training as a counsellor, I worked in Education. My years as a teacher and school leader have given me a particular understanding of the emotional demands of leadership and caring professions, including the pressures that can lead to stress, overwhelm and burnout. I bring this experience to my counselling practice with empathy and without judgement, supporting you to explore what is happening, understand your needs and consider what might help.
I have completed a ±«ÓãÊÓƵAccredited L5 Diploma in Person-Centred Counselling & Therapy and also hold a BSc (Hons) Psychology. I have professional membership of both the ±«ÓãÊÓƵ(British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists) and the British Psychological Society.
Practice description
While I work with adults across a wide range of life challenges, I have particular experience in:
Anxiety, Stress, and Burnout: Navigating work-related pressures, self-esteem, and daily overwhelm.
Loss and Transitions: Support through bereavement, grief, relationship breakdowns, and major life shifts.
Trauma and Difficult Experiences: Gently processing abuse, post-traumatic stress, and complex emotional history.
Identity and Growth: Exploring neurodiversity, sexual identity, disability, and personal development.
I have received specific training in supporting victims of domestic abuse.
My first session
Reaching out can feel daunting, so I aim to make our first steps as easy and pressure-free as possible. I offer a free, no-obligation 15-minute telephone consultation. This is an informal chat for us to see if we feel like a good match and to discuss what you hope to get out of therapy. If you decide to move forward, our initial full session will not involve a formal assessment or long forms to fill in. We will simply note down a few vital details to keep you safe, and then spend the remaining time focusing on what is most important to you.
