Availability

I am currently accepting new clients and offer a flexible range of appointment times.

I understand that fitting therapy around work, family and other commitments can sometimes be difficult, so I offer both daytime and evening appointments where possible.

Sessions are available in person and online, depending on your preference and circumstances.

If you are considering counselling but are unsure whether I am the right therapist for you, please feel free to get in touch. We can have an initial conversation about what has brought you to therapy, what you are hoping to gain from it, and whether working together feels like a good fit.

I offer both short-term and longer-term counselling, and we can discuss the frequency and number of sessions together based on what feels most appropriate for you.

Please contact me to discuss my current availability and arrange an initial session.

About me and my therapy practice

I am an Integrative Therapist and believe that therapy is most effective when it is built around a genuine, trusting and supportive relationship. I aim to provide a warm, down-to-earth and non-judgemental space where you can talk openly about what is happening in your life, explore difficult thoughts and feelings, and develop a greater understanding of yourself.

I hold an MA in Integrative Counselling (Psychotherapy) and a BSc (Hons) in Counselling and Mental Health and I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP)

My approach is relational, which means that rather than seeing therapy as something that is done to you, we work together. You are the expert on your own life. My role is to listen, understand and support you as we explore your experiences, relationships and the patterns that may be affecting how you feel about yourself and others.

People come to therapy for many different reasons. You might be experiencing anxiety, low mood, bereavement or loss, difficulties in your relationships, problems with confidence or self-esteem, or going through a period of change in your life. Sometimes it can be harder to explain, you may simply feel stuck, overwhelmed, disconnected from yourself or know that something doesn't feel right. You don't need to have a diagnosis or a clear idea of what you want to work on before coming to counselling. We can make sense of that together.

Practice description

Starting therapy can feel like a big step, particularly if you are used to dealing with things by yourself or putting the needs of others before your own. My aim is to make that step feel a little easier by offering a space where you can be yourself, speak honestly and feel genuinely heard and understood.

I work with both men and women and recognise that our experiences, relationships and expectations can shape how comfortable we feel talking about our emotions. I want therapy to be somewhere you can put aside the expectations you may experience in other areas of your life and have the freedom to talk honestly about what is important to you, without feeling judged.

I have a particular interest in working with men who may traditionally have felt uncomfortable accessing counselling or talking openly about how they feel. You don't need to know the right words, understand therapy, or arrive ready to talk about your deepest emotions. I see myself as a down-to-earth person as well as a therapist, and I want our sessions to feel like a genuine conversation between two people rather than an overly clinical process.

I also have a particular interest in neurodiversity and the experiences of adults with ADHD, including identity, relationships, self-esteem and making sense of yourself following a diagnosis later in life.

As an integrative counsellor, I draw upon different therapeutic approaches depending on you and what you bring to therapy. I don't believe that one way of working suits everybody. Together, we can explore not only the difficulties you are experiencing, but also where they may come from, how they affect you today and what meaningful change might look like for you.

My first session

The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and for you to get a sense of whether you feel comfortable working with me.

There is no expectation that you need to arrive knowing exactly what you want to talk about or what you hope to achieve from counselling. We can start wherever feels right for you.

I will ask a little about what has brought you to counselling, what is currently happening in your life, and what you would like support with. We can also discuss any previous experiences of counselling or mental health support, as well as anything you feel might be important for me to understand about you.

I will explain how I work, confidentiality and what you can expect from our sessions. There will also be plenty of opportunity for you to ask questions.

Most importantly, the first session is about beginning to build a relationship where you feel comfortable, understood and able to speak openly. There is no pressure to commit to ongoing counselling afterwards. You can take some time to decide whether you feel I am the right counsellor for you.
