About me and my therapy practice
There are many reasons why you might seek therapy. Perhaps you are feeling sad or unhappy, confused, low in confidence or self-esteem. You may be experiencing relationship difficulties, anxiety or be struggling with parenthood. Perhaps you are coping with bereavement or another kind of loss. Whatever you are facing, it may be affecting many aspects of your day to day life.
My style of counselling works from a person-centred approach, I believe you are the expert in your own life. I'll work alongside you, helping you to understand your thoughts, feelings and experiences at a pace that feels right for you. I believe we all have the strength to find our own answers, sometimes we just need a little support to get there.
I understand that trusting another person can take time, particularly if you've experienced feeling misunderstood or judged. There is no expectation to share more than feels comfortable.
My aim is to create a therapeutic relationship where you feel heard, accepted and able to be yourself.
I have a particular interest in supporting neurodivergent adults, young people and parents, and my practice is neuroaffirming, recognising and valuing the uniqueness of every individual.
Choosing a counsellor is a personal decision. If you're wondering whether I might be the right fit for you, I offer an initial conversation where you can ask questions and decide whether working together feels right.

Practice description
I work from a person-centred approach, believing that you are the expert in your own life. Rather than offering advice or directing the sessions, I work alongside you, creating a therapeutic relationship where you can explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences at a pace that feels right for you.
As we talk, I pay attention not only to what you say but also to the patterns that emerge over time. Together we may gently explore underlying beliefs, emotional responses and ways of relating that have developed through your life experiences and may no longer be serving you. My role is not to interpret these for you, but to support your own understanding and help you discover what feels meaningful.
I recognise that opening up can feel difficult, particularly if you've experienced feeling judged, misunderstood or unheard. Trust develops over time, and there is never any pressure to share more than feels comfortable. My aim is to provide a consistent, accepting and compassionate space where you can feel safe to be yourself and explore whatever is important to you.
My first session
Your first counselling session marks the beginning of our therapeutic work together. We will spend time going through our counselling agreement (contract), ensuring you understand and feel comfortable with how we will work together. This includes confidentiality and its limits, session arrangements, cancellations, fees, record keeping and an opportunity to ask any questions before we continue.
Once we've agreed the contract, we'll begin getting to know one another. I'll invite you to share what has brought you to counselling and what you hope to gain from our work together. There is no expectation to tell your whole story in the first session. We will work at a pace that feels comfortable for you, allowing trust and the therapeutic relationship to develop naturally.
My aim is for you to leave the session with a clear understanding of how we will work together and the reassurance that counselling is a collaborative process, shaped around your individual needs.
