About me and my therapy practice
Hi, I'm Rhian, a person-centred therapist.
You may be looking for a therapist because you are feeling overwhelmed, down, or stuck - or uncertain of the way forward.
Or perhaps you’re listening to your gut instinct that life could feel better, or more real.
Whatever you bring, it's welcome.
I offer a space dedicated to you. For you to explore your experiences, work out what you need and what you could change - if that is what you wish.
I positively value working with clients from diverse cultural backgrounds and all gender identities and sexualities.
● who are anxious, depressed or stressed
● experiencing complex bereavement/ loss
● recovering from drug and alcohol dependency
● living with long-term health conditions/disabilities/neurodivergence
● living with the impact of abuse and trauma
● exploring their identities and difference
● with experiences of disadvantage and discrimination
In addition to my private practice I provide counselling on a voluntary basis for a national drug and alcohol charity where I support clients recovering from dependency on alcohol and drugs and their families.
Before my training, I worked for charities, campaigning with disadvantaged groups of people to change unjust government policies. This experience helps me to work inclusively with clients from a range of backgrounds.
Practice description
I am a person-centred therapist. Person-centred means we start from wherever you are and I approach therapy as a partnership between us.
I see you as the expert on your unique life experience. I am here to support you to explore it - at your pace, in your way.
I do this by listening to you in confidence. I don’t push advice or techniques at you. I offer you my reflections with empathy and non-judgment - and you are free to accept my reflections or not.
I offer both remote and in-person therapy as research shows both are effective.
I am trained in offering creative methods some clients find helpful - so let me know if this appeals.
I will work to make you feel safe and appreciated as research shows this is what we need to get the most out of therapy.
In turn therapy can support us to have a better helping relationship to ourselves.
My first session
I offer an initial online or phone consultation of up to 20 minutes free of charge to see if we are a good fit for each other.
There is no obligation to proceed to counselling with me.
If you decide to go ahead, in the first session I will offer you an opportunity for a fuller assessment of your needs and we can discuss how we would like to work together.
All counselling sessions are 50 minutes, usually held once a week.
You may choose to attend short-term, perhaps for a few weeks, or longer term, perhaps over several months or more. I do not lock you into any time commitment.
Whether you choose online, phone or in-person therapy I will prioritise your confidentiality, privacy and safety.
