About me and my therapy practice
Hi, my name is Anita and I am an integrative therapist offering a warm, safe, and non‑judgemental space for you to explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences. My core approach is Person‑Centred, which means our work is led by you at your pace, your needs, and what feels most helpful in the moment. I bring an empathic, grounded presence to help you feel heard, understood, and supported as you make sense of what you’re going through.
Alongside this, I integrate CBT and Transactional Analysis when clients want to understand patterns, explore the links between thoughts and behaviours, or work towards meaningful change. I am also trained as an EMDR practitioner, which can be helpful for clients processing trauma, distressing memories, or emotional overwhelm in a structured, evidence‑based way.
I have experience working with adults facing a wide range of challenges, including trauma, anxiety, low mood, emotional eating, relationship difficulties, and life transitions. My background includes counselling roles in community settings, women’s refuge environments. I have supported women affected by domestic violence, abuse, and sexual assault, offering sensitive, trauma‑informed care within safe and supportive environments.
My therapeutic style is warm, collaborative, and down‑to‑earth. I believe therapy should feel like a genuine partnership, a space where you can talk openly, feel supported, and begin to build clarity, confidence, and emotional resilience. Whether you’re looking for space to reflect, tools to cope, or support through a difficult time, I’m here to walk alongside you as you move towards healing and wellbeing.
Practice description
I provide individual counselling for adults by telephone and online. I currently have no availability for face to face counselling.
My sessions are 50 mins long, but can be more flexible for my EMDR clients, depending on their needs.
All sessions are tailor made for you the client, in order for you to get the most out of our time together.
Being an integrative counsellor, I will draw on my experience and learning in Person Centered counselling, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Transactional Analysis (TA) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), in our sessions to help you achieve your counselling goals.
My first session
Before our sessions begin, I offer a free 20 minute phone consultation, which gives you the chance to ask questions, get a sense of how I work and whether I will be the right therapist for you.
On our first session we will discuss what brings you to counselling, decide together what type of therapy is right for you and make a working contract that covers session times, confidentiality and safeguarding.
