Availability
I currently have limited availability for new clients.
I offer person-centred counselling and wellbeing support for adults, providing a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space to explore whatever may be affecting you.
Appointments can include traditional face-to-face counselling as well as Walk & Talk sessions, where appropriate. I understand that taking the first step into counselling can feel difficult, so an initial conversation can help us decide whether working together feels right for you.
My availability varies, and I aim to offer flexible appointments where possible. Please contact me to discuss current availability and suitable appointment times.
If I am due to take planned leave, existing clients will be given appropriate notice.
About me and my therapy practice
My approach is primarily person-centred. I believe that you are the expert on your own life and my role is not to judge, diagnose or tell you what you should do, but to provide a safe, supportive and confidential space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences at your own pace.
I work with empathy, honesty and respect, recognising that every person's experiences and circumstances are different. Together, we can explore what may be troubling you, identify strengths and resources, and consider what positive change might look like for you.
Alongside my counselling training, I have a background in Positive Psychology, education, sport and coaching. Where appropriate, and always led by the needs and preferences of the client, I may draw upon ideas around resilience, strengths, meaning, mindfulness and wellbeing.
Practice description
I offer counselling in a relaxed, supportive and non-judgemental environment where you can talk openly about whatever is happening in your life.
People come to counselling for many different reasons. You may be experiencing anxiety, low mood, stress, loss, relationship difficulties, changes in circumstances or simply feel that something in your life is not quite right. You do not need to have a diagnosis or even know exactly what you want to talk about.
Our first conversation is an opportunity to discuss what has brought you to counselling, what you hope to gain from it and whether you feel comfortable working with me. There is no pressure or expectation to disclose more than you are ready to.
My practice is grounded in person-centred counselling, complemented by my background in Positive Psychology, education, coaching and wellbeing. I have particular interests in resilience, personal growth, life transitions, confidence, identity and finding meaning following difficult experiences.
I can offer traditional face-to-face counselling as well as Walk & Talk counselling for clients who prefer being outdoors and find conversation easier while gently moving.
Counselling is not about me telling you how to live your life. It is about creating the space for you to be heard, understood and supported while you explore what matters to you and discover your own way forward.
Above all, you can expect warmth, respect, confidentiality and a genuine human relationship.
My first session
The first session is an opportunity for us to meet, talk about what has brought you to counselling and consider what you would like to gain from our work together.
I understand that attending counselling for the first time can feel daunting, so there is no expectation for you to tell your whole story in the first session. We will work at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
We will discuss confidentiality, boundaries and how counselling works, and I will complete a brief initial assessment with you to help me understand your circumstances and ensure that I can offer appropriate support.
Most importantly, the first session gives you the opportunity to decide whether you feel comfortable with me and my way of working. The therapeutic relationship is important, and there is no obligation to continue if you feel that I am not the right counsellor for you.
If we decide to work together, we can discuss what you would like to focus on and agree the most appropriate way forward, whether through face-to-face counselling or, where suitable, Walk & Talk sessions.
