About me and my therapy practice

I'm Rich, a counsellor based in Leeds, UK. I work with people struggling with a variety of difficulties from anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, ADHD (whether diagnosed or diagnosed), Autism, Dyscalculia, and Dyslexia.

My training is grounded in the person-centred approach to psychotherapy. This means my practice is based on the idea that you are the expert on yourself, my focus is on creating a trusting safe space where you can share and explore even the most challenging of your thoughts, feelings and memories which we can then work through together.

I am particularly well suited to working with people who have ADHD. I have lived experience having been diagnosed myself in adulthood. In 2017 I co-founded and run Leeds ADHD Support Group in my spare time which means I've met hundreds of people over the years struggling with living with ADHD giving me a unique perspective that few people have the privilege of having shared.

Practice description

I find that working face-to-face is really beneficial in helping to create the ideal situation for effective counselling . To make things easy for you, I use a counselling room at Batley Health Centre that is ideal for those who are travelling by car.  For those who live or work in the city or need easy public transport access I also use Harbour Therapy Rooms. Leeds City Centre close to the train station and major bus routes. For those who can't make meeting in person work, or prefer to, I can, of course work with you online.

My first session

I like to offer a free 20 min introductory call before we meet for a session. This isn't about assessment or diagnosis. It's about us getting to know each other a bit, to see if we are a good mutual fit. It's also an opportunity for you to ask any questions you have about therapy and how it works.

If we do decide to continue, our first session would include talking through and agreeing a working agreement to set out our therapeutic relationship
