Availability
Perhaps you’ve reached a point where something no longer feels quite right. You might be feeling anxious, overwhelmed, stuck in the same patterns, or struggling in your relationship. Whatever has brought you here, you don’t have to work through it alone.
I’m Polly, an integrative counsellor offering a warm, genuine, and down-to-earth space where you can slow things down and make sense of what’s really going on beneath the surface. My aim isn’t simply to help you cope with life, but to help you understand yourself with greater compassion, clarity, and confidence.
I believe therapy should feel collaborative rather than clinical. Some sessions may involve gentle reflection, while others might include practical tools, visual resources or personalised exercises to help you continue your progress between appointments. Together, we’ll work in a way that feels right for you and at a pace that feels manageable.
I work with individuals experiencing anxiety, self-doubt, life transitions, trauma, grief, and relationship difficulties, as well as couples who feel disconnected or caught in repetitive cycles of conflict and miscommunication. Whatever your starting point, we’ll focus on understanding the patterns that keep you feeling stuck and explore new ways of moving forwards.
I currently have availability for both daytime and evening appointments, online and in person. If you’re wondering whether therapy is the right step, I offer a free 15-minute consultation where we can talk through what you’re looking for and see whether we’d be a good fit.
About me and my therapy practice
About me and my therapy practice
I believe the relationship between therapist and client is one of the most important parts of therapy. Feeling comfortable enough to be yourself, even when life feels messy or overwhelming, creates the foundation for meaningful change.
My approach is warm, collaborative and down to earth. I won’t sit quietly behind a notebook simply nodding along, nor will I tell you what to do. Instead, we’ll work together to understand your experiences, become curious about the patterns that may be keeping you stuck, and explore new ways of moving forwards that feel right for you.
As an integrative counsellor, I adapt therapy to the person sitting in front of me. No two people are the same, so I don’t believe therapy should be either. Some sessions may involve gentle reflection, while others may include practical exercises, visual resources or personalised tools to help bring ideas to life and support your progress between sessions.
Whether we’re exploring your own experiences or working with you as a couple, I aim to create a space where honesty, curiosity and compassion can sit alongside gentle challenge. Often, it’s not about finding quick answers, but slowing things down enough to understand what’s really happening and why.
Above all, I want therapy to feel like somewhere you can arrive exactly as you are. You don’t need to have the right words or know where to begin. We’ll start wherever feels right for you and work together at a pace that feels manageable.
Practice description
Life can sometimes leave us feeling stuck. You may notice the same thoughts, the same arguments or the same worries returning, leaving you feeling overwhelmed, disconnected or unsure how to move forwards.
My role is to help you slow things down and make sense of what's happening beneath the surface. Together we'll explore the patterns that may be keeping you stuck, understand where they've come from, and discover new ways of responding that feel healthier and more authentic.
As an integrative counsellor, I tailor therapy to you rather than following a one-size-fits-all approach. I believe therapy should feel collaborative, practical and meaningful. Alongside conversation, I often use visual resources, personalised reflections and practical exercises to help bring ideas to life and support your progress between sessions.
I work with individuals experiencing anxiety, self-doubt, trauma, grief, life transitions and relationship difficulties. I also work extensively with couples who feel caught in repetitive cycles of conflict, emotional distance or communication difficulties. Rather than focusing on blame, we work together to understand what's happening between you, helping each partner feel heard, understood and able to reconnect.
I believe every behaviour, thought and emotional response makes sense when we understand the story behind it. Together we'll become curious about those patterns and decide whether they're still serving the life and relationships you want to build.
You don't need to have everything figured out before you begin just a willingness to take the first step.
My first session
I offer a free 15-minute telephone or online consultation, giving us the opportunity to talk about what’s brought you to therapy, answer any questions you may have, and see whether we feel like the right fit to work together. There’s no obligation to continue afterwards.
If you decide to go ahead, I’ll ask you to complete a short pre-assessment questionnaire before our first session. This helps me gain an understanding of your background, current concerns and what you’re hoping to achieve from therapy, allowing us to make the most of our time together.
Many people feel nervous before their first session, and that’s completely understandable. You don’t need to know exactly where to begin or have everything figured out. We’ll take things at your pace, creating space for you to tell your story in a way that feels comfortable and manageable.
My aim is that you leave your first session feeling heard, understood and with a clearer sense of the direction we’d like to take together.
