About me and my therapy practice

Are you feeling anxious, overwhelmed, low, stuck or disconnected from yourself? Perhaps you are struggling with something that happened recently, or carrying experiences from the past that continue to affect your relationships, confidence, emotions or everyday life.

You may not even be sure exactly what is wrong鈥攜ou may simply know that you don't feel like yourself anymore. Therapy can provide an opportunity to slow things down, understand what you are experiencing and begin finding a way forward.

I am an Integrative Therapist and registered member of the 鲍鱼视频 I draw upon Person-Centred Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Psychodynamic Therapy, adapting these approaches according to your individual needs, circumstances and goals.

I don't believe that one therapeutic approach works for everyone.

Person-Centred Therapy is central to my way of working. It allows you to have a voice in the therapy and to explore your experiences at a pace that feels manageable.

Sometimes difficulties in the present can be connected to earlier experiences, and understanding these connections can help create greater awareness and choice.

I have a particular interest in working with people affected by trauma, abuse, domestic abuse, sexual abuse, war, displacement, bereavement, loss and other life-changing experiences.

You may experience anxiety, fear, anger, shame, emotional numbness, difficulties trusting others, low self-worth, relationship difficulties or a feeling that you are constantly on alert.

I also work with people experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, low self-esteem, loneliness, relationship difficulties, grief, anger, addiction, substance dependency, ADHD-related difficulties, OCD, phobias, self-harm, work-related problems, cultural issues and major life changes.

You don't have to have everything figured out before starting therapy. You only need to take the first step.

Practice description

I run my own private practice and also work with Counselling Matters Bexley, offering online and face-to-face counselling.

I provide therapy for adults experiencing a wide range of emotional, psychological and relationship difficulties.

What can you expect from me?

I aim to offer a warm, respectful and non-judgemental therapeutic relationship where you can speak openly about what is troubling you.

Depending on your needs, our sessions may involve exploring emotions and relationships, understanding past experiences, identifying patterns of thinking and behaviour, developing practical coping strategies or looking at ways of responding differently to situations that are causing difficulty.

Some people benefit from short-term therapy focused on a particular difficulty, while others choose longer-term work to explore deeper or longstanding issues. We can review our work together as therapy progresses.

There may be times when therapy feels challenging. Exploring painful experiences or longstanding patterns can bring difficult emotions to the surface. I will work with you sensitively and thoughtfully through these moments rather than expecting you to manage them alone.

A space to be yourself

You don't need to present yourself in a particular way in therapy.

You can come feeling confused, angry, tearful, exhausted, uncertain or simply unable to put your feelings into words. You don't need to know the right thing to say.

My aim is to meet you where you are and help you make sense of what you are experiencing.

My hope is that, over time, you can develop greater awareness of your emotions and patterns, strengthen your relationship with yourself, improve your relationships with others and feel more able to respond to life's challenges.

You don't have to face everything on your own. Therapy can be a place to begin making sense of it.

My first session

Taking the first step towards therapy can feel daunting, particularly if you have never spoken to a therapist before or are unsure whether counselling is right for you.

I offer a free 20-minute telephone assessment before we begin regular counselling. This gives us an opportunity to talk briefly about what has brought you to therapy and what you would like help with.

The assessment is informal and without obligation. You can tell me as much or as little as you feel comfortable sharing at this stage.

I will ask some questions to gain an initial understanding of your circumstances, current difficulties and what you hope to achieve through therapy. We can also discuss any concerns or questions you may have about counselling.

This conversation gives you an opportunity to decide whether you feel comfortable with me and whether my way of working seems suitable for your needs. Finding the right therapist is important, and it is completely reasonable to take time to consider whether we are a good fit.

If you decide to continue, our full counselling sessions last 50 minutes and can take place either online or face-to-face.

During our first full session, we will spend time exploring what has brought you to therapy, what you are currently experiencing and what you would like to change or understand.

You don't need to arrive with a diagnosis, a clear explanation or a list of goals.

You can simply arrive as you are.

If you are considering therapy but aren't sure where to begin, the initial telephone assessment is an opportunity to take that first step without committing to ongoing sessions.

I would be pleased to hear from you and explore whether I can support you.
