About me and my therapy practice
Your mind keeps finding one more thing to check, research or ask about.
A sensation in your body sends you searching for answers.
A difficult thought leads to reviewing what happened, asking for reassurance or avoiding something that suddenly feels risky.
The relief comes, but it never lasts. Before long, another doubt takes its place and the cycle begins again.
Perhaps the same pressure appears as replaying conversations, rewriting messages or putting off decisions because you are afraid of getting something wrong.
From the outside, you may look as though you are coping. Privately, you are exhausted by trying to feel certain, safe or in control.
These patterns are not signs of weakness. They are understandable attempts to protect yourself. You may already know they are keeping you stuck; knowing that has not necessarily made them easier to stop.
I work with adults who want to understand what keeps this cycle going and practise a different way of responding, so fear and doubt have less say over how they spend their time.
Practice description
Therapy with me is active and collaborative. I listen closely, ask questions, make connections and offer ideas for us to consider together. At times, I may gently challenge a pattern or suggest something to try between sessions. I will explain what I am noticing and why; you can question me, disagree or tell me when something does not fit.
We might explore what first made a response feel necessary, notice what keeps it going now and practise something different. When checking, researching, reassurance or avoidance give short-term relief but strengthen the cycle, the work may involve gradually making room for uncertainty without immediately doing what fear demands. We agree the pace together.
The aim is not a mind that never worries or complete certainty. It is more choice over what happens next: leaving a question unanswered, making a decision without endless review, being present with someone you care about and letting more of life happen outside the search for reassurance.
My core approach is integrative and relational. In practice, that means there is room to understand how earlier experiences and relationships shaped the difficulty, while also paying close attention to the thoughts, feelings and responses that keep bringing you back to the same place now. Insight matters, and so does trying something different.
Alongside my professional training, I bring lived experience of relentless doubt, checking and the pull of reassurance. I know how convincing fear can feel, while recognising that your experience is your own.
Although this pattern is a particular focus of my work, I also support adults dealing with persistent worry, perfectionism and self-criticism, low mood and low self-worth, grief and loss, relationship difficulties and challenging life changes. Difficulties often overlap, and you do not need to work out which category fits before getting in touch.
My first session
I work with adults in person in Didsbury, Manchester, and online across the UK. New clients begin with weekly sessions for the first four weeks; after that, we review the frequency together.
I offer a free 30-minute consultation. You can tell me a little about what has been happening, ask questions and get a sense of how it feels to talk with me. There is no obligation to continue, and I will be honest if I do not think I am the right person to help.
You do not have to explain everything in your first message. A few lines about what prompted you to look for therapy are enough. Use the Email me button and I will reply within 48 hours, Monday to Friday.
