About me and my therapy practice
I am a Senior Accredited Counsellor with over 20 years experience. I am a qualified Individual and Couple Therapist. I work face to face and online with private clients and for private medical insurance companies.
I have worked for the NHS, Civil Service as well as other large organisations. I currently practice as a self-employed counsellor.
My counselling room is bright, spacious and comfortable and there is free car parking and several bus stops and New Southgate Station very nearby.
Practice description
My initial training in counselling was both person-centred and psychodynamic. However, I have developed a flexible approach to my work which integrates a range of orientations to meet the individual needs of my clients.
I aim to increase awareness, understand patterns, discover choices and develop skills to make changes in your life that feel right for you.
I can help you if you feel stuck with an issue, wish to reflect on your life from a new perspective, or a stressful situation or a traumatic event has left you feeing vulnerable and struggling to cope.
I can also help you to work on a current life experience, something that has been troubling you for some time or simply to generally understand yourself better. I will help you to explore issues and better understand your situation, thoughts and emotions more fully and with greater clarity, leading to new insights and a greater sense of empowerment and control.
In couple therapy, my aim is to help you both think about your relationship, better understand its dynamics and help you resolve the conflicts and tensions. The process will enable you to better understand yourselves, each other and how you relate together. I aim to help you find the best way forward both as individuals and as a couple. I can also help you both move forward in a more harmonious way.
My first session
In the first session you will have the opportunity to think more about what brought you to counselling and what you want from further sessions. You will also have the chance to ask any questions. It will be a mutual assessment of whether you feel comfortable working with me and whether I feel I am able to help you. If I should feel that I am unable to provide you with the help you need, we will then discuss the best way forward for you. If you decide to continue then we will agree on the terms of how the counselling will proceed.
I aim to provide a safe and confidential place for you to talk and feel understood, respected and supported. The quality of the counselling relationship is paramount.
My sessions are for 50 minutes and can be either short-term or open-ended, face to face or virtual. I normally see people for weekly appointments but I can be flexible with regard to frequency.
I offer day and evening appointments.
