About me and my therapy practice
Do you struggle with the memories of negative life experiences? Do you feel stuck in these painful memories, unhelpful thought processes or have a negative inner voice?
Each person’s experience is very different and we may look at ourselves and our lives and think it wasn’t that bad, I don’t want to make a fuss or feel shame and even blame ourselves for the things we have been through. We may compare ourselves and our problems to those of others and downplay our inner pain or personal experiences. Sometimes we can fail to understand or dismiss the effects life can have on us and our relationships, self-esteem and mental wellbeing.
Often, we try and bury painful memories but ignoring them rarely makes them go away. These experiences and thought processes can feel confusing and it can be difficult to know where to start but I can help you to begin to process life’s difficulties and start to heal from your experiences.
I am a qualified person centred, trauma informed counsellor and I work with adults to work through and begin to make sense of their feelings and emotions and move forward in life. I can offer you a safe and private space to explore your thoughts and feelings with genuine empathy and without judgement. I know firsthand how cathartic, liberating and relieving it can feel to unpack deep feelings with a therapist who is separate to our day to day lives.
Practice description
My practice is rooted in the person centred approach which means I will actively and deeply listen and reflect on your thoughts and feelings without judgement.
I will help you to understand your feelings and even uncover deep seated emotions which have been supressed or ignored.
I am also trauma informed which means I understand how to work safely and slowly with clients who bring or uncover trauma in our sessions.
I will help you to feel grounded using basic breathing and grounding techniques if you feel comfortable to do so, however the time is yours to use however you feel is the most helpful to you. We will form a deep connection where you will feel safe and able to open your heart and mind and over time this will promote growth and healing within you and you being to be able to access your own internal resources and insights.
My first session
Prior to our first session, I will send you a copy of our therapeutic contract which will outline how I work and how we can work safely together.
We can then discuss this further in our first session if needed where I can answer any questions you may have. We will then discuss what brought you to therapy initially a begin our therapeutic journey.
I understand how daunting the first session can be so I will guide you calmly and at your own pace.
