About me and my therapy practice

Working as an integrative psychotherapist, I will draw upon a range of models including gestalt, person-centred, cognitive behavioural therapy and existential therapy. These approaches differ how the therapist and client relate to each other but they are all intended to help you understand, come to terms with and develop the ability to manage or resolve your issues.

Somatic (body) and creative techniques are important aspects of my therapy. They are especially important when intellectual processes meet with resistance and anxious states (sometimes brought up through therapy) need support.

I can also bring my coaching experience - a forward looking, goal orientated approach - into the work.

The needs of the client always come first, and as every client is different the mix of how we use them will vary.

I became a therapist during a long career in the arts. It has enabled me to see my clients with advanced levels of empathy. It is my intention that by relating to you I can help you develop greater authenticity, insight and healing. I will challenge you to adopt strategies which can alter your behavioural responses in life, and feel empowered. My aim is to create long lasting change and growth.

Practice description

When we start the therapy, we will explore your feelings and thoughts in an open and safe environment.

My approach will be challenging, because we will be looking at issues which can be both unsettling and provocative. We will likely explore the regions between experiences presented as your everyday reality - the external manifestations, events, and behaviours – and those which are part of your inner world. In other words, issues that arise at surface and depth.

I have experience working with low self-esteem, anxiety, depression, issues related to workplace stress, relationship problems, life transitions and attitudes to food (binge or comfort eating). I have also experience with relatives of survivors of abuse, and guilt and shame associated with these.

I am accredited by the British Association of Counselling Professionals and a member of the International Coaching Federation. I have a PGDip from the University of East London, Integrative Counselling and Coaching.
