About me and my therapy practice
As an integrative counsellor, I draw on different counselling approaches so that we can work in a way that feels right for you and your unique situation. At the heart of my practice is the belief that a genuine, trusting therapeutic relationship can bring about meaningful change. I offer a warm, non-judgemental space where you can feel safe to bring whatever is on your mind, at your own pace. Together, we can explore your feelings, thoughts and experiences, helping you to gain insight, process difficult emotions, and find new ways forward. I work relationally, which means I see our therapeutic relationship as central to the work we do together, providing a supportive space where you can feel truly heard and understood.
Practice description
I understand how life’s many demands can feel overwhelming at times.
As an integrative counsellor, I can draw on different counselling approaches and together we can adapt our work to suit your unique needs. I value the courage it takes to acknowledge feelings of anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, or simply a sense that life has become too much.
Alongside my professional training, I bring life experience to my work. I am a parent, and I live on a farm in North Devon. I have also run my own business as a sign language interpreter, so I understand the stress and pressures that can come from balancing work, family life, and the unexpected challenges that can arise. I believe these experiences help me to truly understand how hard it can be to prioritise your own wellbeing when so many people and responsibilities rely on you.
I am naturally empathic and compassionate, and this is reflected in my counselling style. I believe that the therapeutic relationship itself can bring about change and empowerment, and this is at the heart of my work with clients.
Finding a counsellor you trust is so important. I offer an initial session for us to meet and for you to decide if you feel comfortable with me and my approach. This is your space, and I will truly listen without judgment as we explore what is going on for you.
My first session
I offer a free 20-minute telephone consultation so we can get to know each other a little and see if I am the right counsellor for you. This is a chance for you to share what’s bringing you to counselling and to ask any questions you may have about how I work, without any pressure to commit.
If you decide you would like to go ahead, our first counselling session will be a gentle, welcoming space for us to get to know each other further. We will talk about what has brought you to counselling, what you would like to get out of our sessions, and any hopes or concerns you may have. You are welcome to share as much or as little as you feel comfortable with, and we will go at your pace. It’s completely normal to feel nervous, and there is no expectation for you to have everything figured out. This first session is about beginning to build a trusting, safe space where you can feel heard and supported.
