About me and my therapy practice
Welcome and thank you for visiting my profile.
I'm an experienced counsellor working with adult individuals in Bath and Chippenham as well as online.
At times of struggle in life, our distress can challenge our capacity to cope and live as we would like. At such times, feeling that we need some extra support is completely understandable and reaching out for help is such an important step.
As your counsellor, I'm dedicated to helping you work through your difficulties and reduce your distress, opening the door to positive change in a way that feels right for you.
What I can help with
I can support you with a broad range of issues including those involving anxiety, depression, low self-esteem and self-confidence, loss and bereavement, trauma, stress, relationship or family difficulties and challenging life transitions, to name but a few.
Equally, you might not know exactly what the problem is, but you know that things just don't feel right. Whatever's bothering you, it is valid and deserves care and attention.
Practice description
How I can help
I can offer you a warm, compassionate, relational space to explore your inner and outer worlds without judgement, enabling you to make sense of your experience. This may involve becoming aware of more deeply-rooted patterns of feeling, thinking and behaving that lie underneath your immediate concerns.
I will be alongside you, helping you process difficult emotions or unresolved issues, supporting greater emotional resilience and making space for you to be more fully you.
I will collaborate with you, providing gentle challenge, different perspectives and psycho-education where appropriate so that you can feel empowered in creating your own way forward.
Most importantly, I will work with you to build a therapeutic relationship based on genuine connection, safety and trust, where you can feel seen, heard, understood and unconditionally valued.
My Approach
Using an integrative model, I will draw upon a number of counselling theories to tailor the therapy to you as a unique individual, with the client-therapist relationship at the heart of all we do.
My approach is client-led, meaning that I will be guided by you in terms of the topics we discuss in each session, the pace at which we work and the direction we take.
Please see my website for more information on the modalities I integrate and how they may help.
My first session
Next Steps
I offer a free 15-20 introductory phone call to get an initial idea about whether I could be the right counsellor for you.
If it seems that we could be a good match, we will then arrange an initial session to reach a final decision about whether to start working together.
The session will involve talking in more depth about your reasons for seeking counselling, gathering some key information and beginning to establish the main focus for the work.
If you are less clear about what you want to get out of therapy then the first part of therapy can be used for exploration to help you set your goals.
I know it can feel daunting to reach out, but I welcome any enquiries or questions you may have, so please don't hesitate to get in touch.
