About me and my therapy practice
Life inevitably brings challenges, difficulties and moments when we can feel stuck, disconnected or uncertain about ourselves. Therapy offers a space to slow down and explore these experiences with curiosity and compassion, helping us understand who we are, why we are the way we are, and how we relate to ourselves and the people around us.
Having lived across three countries and continents, with Asian heritage and dual US-UK citizenship, I bring a particular understanding of identity, culture, and what it means to navigate life between different worlds, something I draw on especially when working with clients exploring identity, cultural belonging, or major life transitions.
Balancing care for others with care for yourself is a tension I know well, and it's one I help clients navigate in their own lives. I bring a natural ability to hold both emotional and analytical perspectives in the room, shaped by my own experience as a mother to two teenagers, and a previous career in finance, where I navigated high-pressure demands.
Therapy is not easy, and sometimes the work may bring difficult feelings or tension into the room. Rather than avoiding these moments, I believe they can become an important part of the work. By exploring them together in a safe and supportive manner, we can begin to understand what is happening and find a way forward.
I value equality, diversity and inclusion, and welcome clients of all backgrounds, genders and sexualities.
Practice description
A space to understand yourself and discover who you are beyond what is expected of you.
I work empathically and relationally, seeking to understand each person within wider systems and relationships that shape their experience. My integrative approach draws from psychodynamic, humanistic, and transpersonal perspectives, considering both your inner world and the environments you inhabit, including family, friendships, work, culture and community, and how these continually influence one another. My role is not to tell you who you should be, but to accompany you as you discover a way of living that feels more honest, meaningful and true to yourself.
Ultimately, therapy is a collaborative journey towards greater self-awareness and choice. As we come to understand the experiences, beliefs and expectations that have shaped us, we can begin to tell the difference between who we are and who we learned to be, creating space to reconnect with our own values, needs and sense of self, while recognising the relationships and systems around us. A way of living where you can begin to feel more at home in yourself, understand what matters to you, and make choices that feel right for you.
My first session
I offer a free 20-minute online consultation before we begin any formal work together. This gives us both a chance to get a sense of whether we're a good fit. You'll be invited to share what's bringing you to therapy, along with any previous experience of therapy. We'll talk through what you're hoping to explore and what you'd like therapy to offer you. I'll also explain my therapeutic approach, confidentiality, fees, and answer any questions you have.
If you decide to move forward, our first session(s) will include completing an assessment form together, alongside time to explore what's brought you to therapy, how you've been feeling, and any concerns you may be holding.
The first sessions are an opportunity to establish a safe and supportive space where you can feel comfortable expressing different parts of yourself without fear of judgement. Developing a trusting and consistent therapeutic relationship creates the safety needed to be vulnerable, explore difficult experiences and consider perspectives that may initially feel uncomfortable. A strong therapeutic alliance also allows us to work through moments of uncertainty, difference or tension when they arise, using these experiences as opportunities for greater understanding and growth. Throughout the process, my aim is for you to feel heard, respected and supported as we work together at a pace that feels right for you.
