About me and my therapy practice
Drawing upon metaphor, creative techniques and narrative therapy, including writing, my practice uses an integrative approach to blend a unique mix of tools and techniques to support you in your individual circumstance.
Together, we can explore issues such as identity and meaning, and identify any recurring patterns, to help you make sense of your experiences.
I offer online and telephone sessions in addition to face to face support, ensuring you have the flexibility that works for you.
Evenings, weekends and early morning appointments are available.
Practice description
Following a free no-obligation chemistry call so you can get a feel for whether we would be a good therapeutic fit, I offer a collaborative and individualised approach to counselling, shaped around you, your experiences, and what you want to focus on.
I work particularly well with people who want to explore the stories they have developed about themselves, their relationships and their lives. Sometimes that means using narrative approaches to explore a different perspective; sometimes it means using metaphor, imagery or creative writing to find a way into things that are difficult to put into words.
You don't need to consider yourself creative, and there is certainly no requirement for you to write anything unless you might like to. Creative approaches are just some of the tools we can draw upon if they are appropriate to you.
My aim is to provide a therapeutic space that is thoughtful, curious and without judgement, where you can make sense of what is happening, develop a deeper understanding of yourself and others, and consider what you might want to do differently.
Because I offer telephone and online sessions, counselling can be accessible to you wherever you are.
My first session
Our first planned session gives us a chance to begin making sense of what has brought you to therapy, and what you might like to get from it.
We’ll talk about what’s happening for you now, but also about the wider context – your experiences, relationships and anything else that feels important to you.
There’s no expectation that you have to arrive knowing exactly what you need, or where to start. We can take our time and work out together what feels most useful to explore. If narrative, metaphor or creative approaches feel like a good fit, we can begin to bring these in naturally.
Most importantly, the first session gives us both a chance to see how it feels to work together.

About me and my therapy practice
Specialising in using creative writing, bibliotherapy, narrative and metaphor for therapeutic purposes, I work in partnership with my clients, empowering them to recognise – whether in themselves, others, or the circumstances in which they find themselves – the factors at play in the issues they’re experiencing, so they find greater self-compassion and the courage and awareness to move through life and its challenges with more ease.
Perceptive, creative and adaptable, I use an integrative approach to my work, which means tools and techniques from a range of therapeutic perspectives are used to create individualised support that is unique to each client and their current circumstances.
Practice description
Life is stressful and relationships confusing - sometimes deeply painful, but the key to navigating this is firstly understanding ourselves.
Afterwords Counselling offers an empowering, adaptable and creative space that fully supports you to explore who you are, where you are in life, how you got there, and where you'd like to be.
From the comfort of your own home, or from one of a number of therapy rooms in Newcastle city centre and across Gosforth, find support with relationship issues, low mood and depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, grief, loss and more.
My first session
I offer all new clients a free 15-minute chemistry call by phone to ensure they feel we'd be a good fit in working together. This gives clients the chance to ask any questions they may have, and to feel comfortable in choosing to move forward with me.
