About me and my therapy practice
My name is Mercedes, but everyone calls me Sadie. I am passionate about helping individuals navigate through life's challenges and I believe in creating a safe and supportive space for my clients to explore their thoughts and emotions.
I am a person centred counsellor as my foundation, meaning I believe that you are the expert on your own life and I believe that the professional relationship between myself and my clients is key. Much like any relationship in life, not everyone will be compatible, and you will get the most from your therapy journey, if you have a good working relationship with your counsellor. It is a collaborative relationship, and I like to work in a way which benefits each individual client, meaning I can use additional trainings I have done, to use creative interventions in addition to talking therapy, if that is what works for you.
I am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
Safe space for LGBTQIA+
I work with over 18's and offer online sessions, face to face sessions and walk and talk therapy/ ecotherapy. I offer concession prices for over 65's, students, NHS workers and those receiving Universal Credit.
I have obtained a degree in Psychology from The University of Liverpool. I have a level 4 Diploma in Counselling through the CPCAB. Additionally, I have attended many additional trainings to enhance my ability to address a wide range of mental health issues, including but not limited to; Ecotherapy, Domestic Abuse Awareness, Trauma and PTSD, GSRD, working with eating disorders, and creative therapies.
I have experience working with domestic abuse organisations, young people under the care of the local authority and have spent time volunteering for local counselling CICs.
Practice description
I run my practice from my conservatory at home. There is no signage, to keep confidentiality. The room is private, calm and comfortable. There is never anyone else home during my sessions. I can offer face to face sessions, online sessions or walk and talk therapy.
My first session
In the first session I will take some personal details from yourself, including emergency contact information, unless this has already been taken during an introductory phone call. I will go through a contract with you to explain how our sessions will work and find out if you have any special requirements. I will also explain how your information is stored and my GDPR procedures.
I will also ask a few questions regarding your mood and how supported you have felt over the previous week. This helps me to gauge where we are starting from. There will also be ample opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have.
