About me and my therapy practice
As your counsellor, I will meet you with an open mind and heart and listen deeply to your experiences, challenges, fears, struggles, pain, joy and dreams for your life. Together we could explore how things might have got stuck or feel insurmountable. Using curiosity, presence and awareness, we would start to unpick the patterns and themes that might be holding you back.
I work using an integrative approach, including Psychodynamic, Gestalt and Person Centred models. I also use Sandtray therapy. Sandtray is a great way for the counsellor and client to see visually what is happening inside the client’s mind more clearly, so we can work more deeply together. It helps us reach parts that might be more hidden in the unconscious that could be impacting how we interact in the world. It can also be a great somatic tool to help with relaxation, to reduce anxiety and to bring us more into the body in a safe way.
Historically, I have worked as a doula (supporting the process of pregnancy and birth) and as a shamanic practitioner (energy work deeply linked with the natural world) and these experiences influence my work today, helping me to connect to more subtle influences in our system and bring this awareness to our work together.
I am committed to working in a holistic way with clients, with an awareness of how each of us are impacted differently by the structures, systems, society and culture that we live in, particularly if living with experiences of discrimination coming from disability, colour, neurodiversity, sex or gender. I am passionate about creating societal change and also work in a charity in Bristol supporting refugees and asylum seekers and women who have experienced sexual violence.
