About me and my therapy practice
I'm Lou Knight, an integrative psychotherapist working online with adults across the UK. I'm based in Yorkshire, and all my sessions are held by secure video, so we can work together wherever you are.
Much of my work is with people who have experienced relational and reputational aggression 鈥 the covert bullying, exclusion, triangulation that can happen in workplaces, friendships, families and community groups. It works through relationships rather than open confrontation, which makes it hard to prove and easy to dismiss 鈥 and it can leave you doubting your own perception. If that's familiar: you're not overreacting, and it counts.
I also work with personal development such as identity, relational patterns, self-esteem and confidence - including things like people-pleasing and perfectionism that can shape how we relate to ourselves and others.
I work from a relational, person-centred foundation, drawing on psychodynamic and attachment-informed approaches with a focus on co-creating a strong therapeutic relationship to facilitate your own agency in finding ways to feel more whole in yourself and to navigate your own self-development and an exploration of your relational patterns. My theoretical lens posits that the more fully and deeply we know ourselves the more freedom we have to make choices in our own life and therefore, therapy is a process to explore reclaiming more of your authentic self.
In practice, that means a non-judgemental space where you set the pace, and where the aim is to understand your experience rather than to label or fix you.
I hold a postgraduate diploma in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy.
Practice description
I offer online therapy to adults across the UK, so we can work together wherever you are. Sessions are held by secure video, and I'm based in Yorkshire.
Sessions are 50 minutes, usually weekly or fortnightly, and I currently work Tuesday to Thursday. The fee is 拢60 per session. We'll settle on a rhythm that suits you, and there's no fixed number of sessions 鈥 some people come for a defined piece of work, others for something longer and more open-ended.
What you can expect from me is warmth, real attention, and a space that's genuinely yours 鈥 somewhere you don't have to translate, minimise or perform. I won't tell you what to think or hand you a formula. Instead we work at your pace: making sense of what's going on for you, perhaps noticing the patterns beneath it, and slowly widening the space in which you feel able to be yourself.
My particular focus is relational and reputational aggression 鈥 covert bullying and exclusion, including at work 鈥 alongside personal development work such as self-esteem, confidence, identity and understanding your relational patterns.
You're welcome to get in touch to arrange a free initial consultation, with no obligation to continue. I offer a complimentary 15 minute call to see if we may potentially be a good fit together for the work. If we agree to go ahead with an initial session, this will serve as a further assessment and will be charged at my standard fee.
As I work online so it's important that you have a private and confidential space where you won't be overheard or interrupted and that you have access to good wifi connectivity.
As is standard in therapy, I will provide a contract which provides terms and conditions for the work. Therapy requires boundaries or a frame and the contract is an important part of that. We will go through this together but I encourage you to read it and ask any questions you may have in the initial sessions.
Sessions are 50 mins long.
I have a 24 hour cancellation policy.
My first session
Before we begin, I offer a free 30-minute initial consultation, held online. It's a relaxed, no-obligation conversation 鈥 a chance to tell me a little about what's bringing you to therapy, to ask any questions, and to get a feel for what it might be like to work together. There's no pressure to commit, and no cost for this first conversation.
The first full session serves as an assessment too, and potentially we may be assessing the fit and the work together for the first 3-5 sessions as we explore your experiences and your reasons for coming to therapy. These initial sessions are charged at my standard rate.
When you get in touch, I'll usually send a short assessment form beforehand. It simply helps me understand what you're looking for and whether I'm the right person to support you.
In these first sessions, it may be that you don't feel I'm the right fit for you, please know that I won't be offended or take this personally and I'm open to discussing this and hearing any feedback you may have.
Please know that if I decide that the work may not be a good fit for me and my skills or for online working that it is in no way a personal rejection of you but that it is about putting your best interests first.
I don't offer specific referrals to other therapists but I hope that through our initial assessment session(s) that you will have a clearer understanding of the work you are seeking to do to facilitate you in finding the right therapist.
There's nothing you need to prepare, and no right way to show up to a first session. Many people feel nervous beforehand 鈥 that's completely normal, and you won't be expected to have the words for everything straight away. We'll go at a pace that feels manageable for you.
A first session is really just the beginning of getting to know each other, and you stay in control of what you share, and when.

About me and my therapy practice
I offer integrative therapy drawing on person centred and psychodynamic theories with a focus on co-creating a strong therapeutic relationship to facilitate your own agency in finding ways to feel more whole in yourself and to navigate your own self-development and an exploration of your relational patterns. I also work with people who鈥檝e experienced systemic relational and reputational aggression - the subtle often invisible dynamics of exclusion, manipulation and covert bullying in group settings. I offer a thoughtful, understanding and non-judgemental space where these experiences can be understood and worked through.

Useful things to know about your first session:
- It鈥檚 ok to be nervous, this is normal and you are not alone, many people are.
- It鈥檚 a conversation not an interview, you set the pace, we鈥檒l only go where you are ready to go - nothing is forced.
- You don鈥檛 need the right words or a tidy reason, 鈥淚鈥檓 not sure where to begin鈥 is a perfectly good place to begin.
- You decide what happens next - there鈥檚 no pressure to continue. I鈥檇 encourage you to try a few different therapists - the therapeutic relationship really matters, and finding the right fit for you will make all the difference.
