About me and my therapy practice

I understand it can feel hard to be vulnerable and share your story. Building trust takes time, and I’ll work safely and gently at your pace, checking in to make sure it feels right for you.

I’m a trained psychotherapeutic counsellor for children and young people, with years of experience supporting women too. I often work with people who feel low, worn out, anxious or unseen—who carry quiet feelings of not being good enough, or feel unimportant, who feel lost in themselves and in life. Many I support are neurodivergent, sensitive or tend to care for others while neglecting their own needs; often feeling burnt out, hopeless or uncertain about the future.

My approach is shaped by individual need. I understand that finding the words can sometimes feel difficult or overwhelming. As an artist, writer, and musician, I offer creative ways to explore your story, alongside traditional talking therapy. I also offer the option of working outdoors (ecotherapy), which can feel less intense and grounding due to its calming nature.

Alongside my private practice, I work as a counsellor at a trauma-informed charity and in primary and secondary schools supporting children, young people, carers and families impacted by domestic abuse. I also have experience working in a Newcastle based school as a counsellor with Place2Be.

Having lived in the UK and abroad, I bring a global, inclusive perspective to my practice, with a deep understanding of what it means to feel far from home or culturally different, or like you're on the outside looking in. This helps me connect with clients from diverse backgrounds in an empathetic and meaningful way.

I’m DBS-checked, receive regular supervision, and hold qualifications in Forest School (Level 3) and outdoor first aid. I'm committed to ongoing training and professional development.

Practice description

I have a safe, quiet and creative therapy space in a creative arts centre in the west end of Newcastle. There is ample parking directly outside and bicycle racks. It is also on a bus route.

I also offer outdoor therapy (ecotherapy) in a quiet and beautiful organic garden: containing ponds, a forest garden, orchard area, meadow, woodland and raised bed areas. There are wheelchair accessible paths in the garden and there is parking outside.

My first session

I offer a free, no-obligation 15-minute phone call where you’re welcome to ask any questions you may have about beginning therapy.

If you're happy to proceed, we’ll schedule an initial assessment session. This session (up to 90 minutes and charged at my standard rate) gives us time to explore what’s bringing you to therapy, what you’d like to get out of it, and whether you’re interested in working indoors or in an outdoor setting. It’s also an opportunity for you to reflect on whether you feel comfortable with me—something that’s essential, as the therapeutic relationship is at the heart of effective therapy.

In our first session, we’ll also work together to create an agreement outlining how we’ll approach the therapeutic work. We’ll also discuss important topics like confidentiality, safeguarding, and your goals for therapy.

When working with children or teenagers, I usually recommend an initial assessment with a parent or carer in person to understand a little of what brought you here and to gather essential information relating to support needs, education and life history. Following this, I will meet with you and your child or young person to introduce therapy in a gentle and age-appropriate way. Together, we will begin identifying any goals they may have and ensure they feel safe and supported in the process.
