About me and my therapy practice

Hi, I'm Sonia.

I'm a London based therapist believes in creating a calm and nurturing space where you can feel safe, heard, and understood. My focus is on building a trusting relationship where you can take your time  to explore, reflect, and begin to make sense of what’s been going on for you.

I support people in giving language to emotions that may feel stressful or overwhelming, in working through painful or confusing memories, and in building stronger emotional boundaries. My hope is that, through our work together, you’ll develop a deeper connection with yourself — one rooted in self-understanding and self-compassion.

Alongside my private practice, I work as a trauma-informed violence and abuse counsellor at a London-based charity. I specialise in supporting individuals who are processing the emotional impact of trauma, often working gently with how past experiences may still be showing up in the present. My approach is relational, reflective, and collaborative — I don’t believe in quick fixes, but in walking alongside you at your own pace, as you discover your own answers.

Prior to becoming a therapist, I spent over a decade working in the mental health sector, supporting people with a wide range of emotional and psychological challenges. That experience gave me a strong foundation in understanding the many different ways distress can show up — and just how vital it is to be met with empathy and understanding.

I offer a free 20-minute telephone consultation so you can ask any questions you may have and get a sense of how it might feel to work together.

If you choose to begin counselling, sessions are 50 minutes long and usually take place at the same time each week. You're welcome to share any preferences or alternative session patterns you'd like to explore during our initial call.

I also offer concessions for trainee counsellors.

Practice description

I currently offer both online and telephone counselling.

My approach draws from both psychodynamic and person-centred models of therapy. This means we might explore how past experiences — especially early relationships — may be influencing how you feel or respond in the present. At the same time, I work in a way that’s non-directive and empathetic, respecting your autonomy and trusting in your capacity to grow when given a safe, supportive space.

I’ll always tailor my approach to meet your individual needs, working collaboratively with you to focus on what feels most important and relevant at your pace.

Before our first session, I’ll send you an assessment form and a counselling agreement to complete and sign. These documents outline how we’ll work together and help establish a shared understanding from the start.

My first session

In our first session, we’ll explore what has brought you to therapy and what you hope to gain from our work together. We’ll also review your assessment form, which helps us begin to understand the areas you’d like to focus on. The rest of the session will be your space to start sharing whatever feels most present or important to you.
