About me and my therapy practice

My aim is to support the client to make tangible changes in their life, in relation to self, others and the wider world. I can equip the client with skills to help dealing with the native thoughts and feelings, so that they can make changes and move forward in their life.  I am passionate in working with people and I can communicate with warmth and empathy. I am enthusiastic about identifying and focusing on the person’s strengths and so engaging them in dialogue and learning process and motivating them to grow and change. I believe that, within appropriate professional boundaries, humour, transparency, consistent approach and open communication are factors that are most responsible for the clients’ high motivation.

Practice description

My way of working is highly versatile and places equal emphasis on thoughts, emotion, body and action, it can be useful in helping people with difficulties in relationships, self-management and social and emotional functioning. It is particularly useful for helping people experiencing unresolved loss, trauma or mood disorders such as anxiety or depression. Working creatively has also been useful in working with people who have been diagnosed with personality disorders and a wide range of other mental health conditions, including psychosis.

In the therapy session, I am paying particular attention to attachment style, the way relationships are managed in adult life, patterns of thinking, feeling and behaving, connection with own processes and emotions especially conflict related and difficult life situations. In this way, the client is invited to reflect on:

• clarify which patterns are helpful or unhelpful

• understand how these patterns have developed

• discover what makes you keep repeating them

• find alternative, more effective ways of managing to stop negative experiences or feelings from recurring.

The client is guided to explore and engage in building strengths and emotional resilience, to understand current coping mechanisms, take control of own life, help make positive changes, thus using new tools that allow the client to cope in a way that is healthy and beneficial to the client’s well-being.

In the context of trauma, while acknowledging and understanding own problematic patterns that may have been learnt in childhood, the work will be safely paced in a way that the client is also supported to engage in a process of healing as well as exploring and map out new and healthier ways of managing life challenges.
