About me and my therapy practice
I provide a calm and confidential space online or via the telephone to help you make sense of your thoughts and feelings. I help you set realistic goals to help you move forward at your pace.
Working online in my experience is as effective as meeting face to face. If you have not experienced counselling online before I can help you connect easily, from the comfort of your own home or workplace. If connecting face to face feels overwhelming I can offer telephone appointments which I have found an effective way to support clients who want to access counselling.
I have experience supporting clients who have experienced loss and change in their personal and work life. I provide a confidential space to explore what are often conflicting feelings and thoughts. I use CBT strategies to help you cope day to day with anxiety, low mood, stress and depression whilst you make sense of what is going on for you.
I work with clients who are feeling overwhelmed with life, who have suffered a recent bereavement, loss or significant change in life. I am here to listen compassionately and without judgement, helping you make sense of your feelings and thoughts. I work with you to set goals to help you cope day to day with anxiety, depression, low mood and stress.
I have received training from RABI and have experience supporting people from rural communities.
Prior to training as a counsellor, I worked as a mental health mentor for 5 years supporting young adults face to face. I have over 10 years working as a teacher in FE supporting young adults.
Practice description
I work online using Zoom and I also offer telephone counselling.
Appointments last for 50 minutes and are agreed week to week at the end of each session. I ask for payment by bank transfer in advance of each session please.
I will confirm payment and email you a zoom link to access your counselling session. Alternatively I will ring you on the day and time that we have agreed.
My first session
I offer a free 15 minute introductory call and from their we will agree our initial session if you feel you want to continue working with me. I work week to week with you so there is no need to commit to a set number of sessions.
I will email you a contract to sign along with payment information in advance of your first session.
In our first session I will briefly summarise the contract and answer any questions that you may have. We will complete a Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ9) or a Generalised Anxiety Disorder Questionnaire (GAD7) to help us understand your anxiety and/or depression better. I offer a tailored and flexible approach, drawing on my training and experience to support you with setting realistic goals and finding a way to move forward using CBT strategies. I listen attentively and without judgment, offering empathy and compassion to ensure you feel heard.
All client information is kept digitally and securely in passworded files.
In my experience clients have found working online or by telephone, a comfortable and convenient way to access counselling support.
