About me and my therapy practice
Hello, I'm Catherine Keeler, a passionate child therapist dedicated to helping children and young adults up to the age of 25 navigate the challenges of life. I'm a relaxed, positive, and fun-loving individual who values the power of listening and fostering relationships. My mission as a child therapist is to provide a safe and non-judgmental space where every individual's voice can be heardPractice description
I hold a foundation degree in person-centered counseling, which equips me with the knowledge and skills needed to connect with and support young minds. During my academic journey, I had the privilege of completing my placement with Manchester Minds, where I had the opportunity to work with a diverse range of children and young adults, both with and without additional needs.
In my role at Manchester Minds, I gained valuable experience working with individuals facing various emotional challenges. I supported young people coping with anxiety and depression, helped them navigate the complex emotions associated with grief and loss, and provided guidance to those dealing with abuse, including self-harm. This experience has reinforced my commitment to helping young individuals overcome their struggles and find happiness within themselves.
Beyond my formal training, I bring over 20 years of experience working with children and young people in educational settings. This includes working with children as young as 2 years old, both in mainstream and specialized educational environments. This background has provided me with a deep understanding of the unique needs and challenges that children and young adults face as they grow and develop.
My first session
My therapeutic approach is rooted in the belief that every individual deserves to have their voice heard. I am committed to creating a safe and empathetic environment where young minds can open up, share their stories, and explore their emotions without fear of judgment. I take a person-centered approach, allowing the individual to guide the therapeutic process, whether through conversation, creative expression, or even sign language (though I'm at a level one proficiency, approximately 50% fluent).
My passion for helping young people find happiness and confidence stems from personal experiences. Witnessing my parents become foster parents and seeing the positive impact they had on young lives ignited my interest in child psychology. Additionally, my own journey through an abusive relationship and subsequent counseling inspired me to pursue a career as a child therapist. I am driven by the desire to provide the support and guidance that I wish I had received during challenging times.
One thing you may notice is that I am dyslexic. However, I want to emphasize that this does not hinder my ability to provide effective therapy or support to my clients. In fact, my own experiences with dyslexia have made me even more empathetic and understanding of the unique challenges individuals may face.
In summary, my child therapy services are grounded in empathy, compassion, and a deep commitment to helping young individuals thrive. I look forward to the opportunity to work with you or your child and to be a supportive presence on the journey toward emotional well-being and personal growth. Please feel free to reach out, and together, we can embark on this transformative journey.

About me and my therapy practice
Hi, I'm Catherine — a passionate therapist here to support children, young people, and adults as they navigate life's ups and downs. I bring a relaxed, down-to-earth, and compassionate approach to my work, creating a space where you can feel truly seen and heard. Building real, trusting relationships is at the heart of what I do, and I believe in the power of connection, positivity, and a little bit of laughter along the way. My goal is to offer a safe, welcoming, and non-judgmental space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences at your own pace
Practice description
I hold a Foundation Degree in Person-Centred Counselling and a Diploma in Child Psychology, which give me the tools and insight to connect meaningfully with both young and mature minds. During my studies, I was fortunate to complete my placement with Manchester Minds, where I worked with a diverse group of children, young people, and adults — some with additional needs, and others navigating life’s challenges in mainstream settings. I also supported adult learners at Manchester College, further enriching my understanding of a wide range of emotional experiences.
Since then, I’ve continued my therapeutic journey with Talk to Serenity, where I work with both children and adults through face-to-face and remote sessions. In this role, I’ve supported individuals dealing with anxiety, depression, grief and loss, self-harm, and the long-lasting effects of abuse. Each of these experiences has deepened my commitment to providing a safe, empathetic space where people feel empowered to heal, grow, and reconnect with their inner strength.
Alongside my formal training, I bring over 20 years of hands-on experience working with children and young people in educational settings. I've supported children as young as two, right through to teenagers and young adults, in both mainstream and specialized environments. Much of this work has involved supporting young people with autism and other additional needs. This background has given me a deep appreciation for the individuality of every child and a strong understanding of the support they need to thrive — emotionally, socially, and developmentally.
In addition to my core qualifications, I’ve also gained certifications in Crystal Reiki and Play Therapy, which allow me to offer creative and holistic approaches tailored to each individual’s needs. I believe that healing can take many forms, and incorporating alternative methods can often open new pathways for growth, especially for younger clients.

I am committed to creating a safe and empathetic environment enabling individuals to open up, share their stories, and explore their emotions without fear of judgement. I take a person-centred approach, allowing the individual to guide the therapeutic process, whether through conversation, creative expression, play or and even meditation.
I am able to draw upon my own personal experiences in order to relate to the people I work with, and I have a passion for helping people find their own happiness and confidence. My own journey led me to pursue a career in counselling, and my own self-reflection gave me the desire to offer support and guidance to those in need of inspiration
A particularly special part of my work involves my therapy dog, Loki. We trained together as a therapy team, and he now joins me in selected sessions. Loki has an incredible ability to tune into each client’s emotional state, offering calm, comfort, or playful energy — whatever is most needed in the moment. His presence often helps clients feel more at ease, especially those who may struggle to engage in traditional talking therapy.
In summary, my therapy services are grounded in empathy, compassion, and a deep commitment to helping individuals thrive.
