About me and my therapy practice

'Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.'                                                                         A phrase attributed to Albert Einstein but more recently to the Civil Rights Campaigner Rita Mae Brown.  This one sentence best encompasses for me why many start looking toward therapy.  It's those repeating patterns that we all fall victim to, which create a lot of our stress and disconnection.

Modern life is so busy that we just don't have good time to stop and reflect, yet the warnings keep coming ; disproportionate responses, sleepless nights, disordered eating, self medicating, hurting yourself and others.

There is a time when we need to start listening to the signals we are being given. Counselling can give you that time and space to freely express those thoughts, fears, shame, sorrow, pain.

Whatever it is you are experiencing I will work with you to focus in on what your needs are - and what you require - to develop a sense of agency over your life and the way in which you interact with others.

Practice description

In addition to my training in Person Centred counselling, I am ever open to different ways of working with people to ensure that I can attend to individual need, background and culture. Along the way I have undertaken additional training in Women's Mental Health, Gestalt, Narrative therapy, Adverse Childhood Experience (ACE), trauma and suicide intervention. I have experience of working with clients who are neurodivergent and those from the LGBTQ+ community.

In my private practice I work in person and online.  I see clients 18 years and over. Sessions are £50 

My first session

Once you have made contact with me, I will offer a phone call and email you some information on the process and we'll arrange our first meet.

 Our first session together is an opportunity for you to talk through what has brought you to counselling, to establish what you would like to change, and for you to ascertain whether you feel comfortable working with me.  The client therapist relationship is important, you need to feel safe in order to trust, so you have the full therapeutic hour (50 minutes) on our first meet to see how that sits with you.
