About me and my therapy practice
My approach is grounded in empathy, authenticity, and respect for your individual experience. I believe that a strong therapeutic relationship is central to effective therapy and can provide the foundation for meaningful and lasting change.
I have psychodynamic background meaning I appreciate the importance of early family relationships and attachment styles on how we relate to others. I am a person-centred therapist, meaning I offer a non-judgemental therapeutic space where you can explore your thoughts, emotions, and experiences safely and openly.
My aim is to support you in developing greater self-awareness, emotional resilience, and a deeper understanding of yourself and your relationships
Whilst my style of therapy is non-directive, it is not passive. We work collaboratively to explore, process, and understand. Therapy can feel daunting, but sessions will not be uncomfortable, It’s a conversation with you at the centre.
Practice description
I am confident working with young people who are experiencing anxious thoughts, feeling overwhelmed and stressed about the future. Finding a space to address these concerns and work through these issues can help to shift from feeling worried to feeling excited about what’s to come.
I have worked with clients experiencing life changes, relationship difficulties or transitions. During a period of transition, we can experience an increase in stress, uncertainty or low mood. Having a place to bring these worries can help us understand what this means and move forward positively.
When I work with clients facing anxiety; Initially, our focus will be to manage any immediate symptoms through exploring coping strategies that feel relevant and useful to you. Then from this safe place we can explore the deeper reasons for the anxiety and come to understand it more.
In therapy we can meet without judgement or expectation, it is place to bring all parts of yourself, explore this complexity and start to understand the way forward.
My first session
The first session is an opportunity to discuss what has brought you to therapy, what you hope to gain and whether we feel like the right fit to work together.
There is no pressure to share more than you feel comfortable with, and we will work at a pace that feels right for you. We will also complete some initial paperwork relating to confidentiality and contact details.
