About me and my therapy practice

I work as an integretive counsellor. I use a person centred approach at the heart of my practice to ensure your needs are at the centre of the work we do together. This offers you a safe, confidential space to work through your current situation and thoughts and feelings about it. However I am trained in many other approaches which means I  tailor make the therapeutic approach to meet your specific requirements. This includes a psychodynamic approach to look at how your own history has affected your current wellbeing and CBT which is helpful for conditions like anxiety and depression. I also use transactional  analysis which can be helpful in undertsanding your relationshp difficulties. I am a trained relationship counsellor and an LGBTQ+ affirmative therapist. I have worked for many organisations including Relate, Walsall Bereavement Support Service, Birmingham Hospice, Help Harry Help Other cancer centre and I am a tutor at Mapleleaf Counselling and Therapy Centre. I currently manage the counselling service at Myton Hospice.

Practice description

I am well qualified and I am continuing learning and taking courses all the time. I am fully committed to my therapy practice and my clients. I am also a trained clinical supervisor and oversee the work of other counsellors to ensure they work safely and ethically.

You can expect me to work to the highest standards and I will offer you a warmth and empathy that are genuine. People find me easy going, supportive and personable. I offer one hour sessions remotely or face to face.

My first session

The first session will be an assessment session. I can find out about your particular situation further and you can ask me questions about how I work. This session allows me the opportunity to ensure I am the right therapist for you and that I can help with your situation. It will also allow you a chance to see if you warm to me and feel comfortable talking to me as the counselling relationship is central to the success of the therapy process.
