About me and my therapy practice
Hello and welcome. I provide one-to-one counselling sessions either online or by telephone to adults living in the UK. I work with individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, ADHD, grief and loss, trauma, work-related stress, coping with physical health problems, relationship problems, bullying, low-confidence and low self-esteem.
I am a person-centred counsellor and that means that I will provide you with a supportive environment to enable you to explore the issues you are facing. I am interested in you as a whole person and what has happened to you that has led to you feeling the way you do, rather than just the symptoms you are experiencing.
I can offer you a therapeutic relationship in which I am warm, caring and non-judgemental. I will listen and support you in an empathic way and together we will explore your thoughts, feelings and behaviours, leading to you gaining a deeper understanding of yourself, your relationships and other aspects of your life. I will put you and your needs at the centre of our work together.
I am a certified and experienced online and telephone counsellor.
Sessions can be weekly or fortnightly, you can have a set number of sessions or sessions can be open-ended. We will regularly review the therapy together as we progress through the sessions to ensure you are getting what you need and that it is working for you.
I offer a free initial 20 minute Zoom or telephone appointment so that I can get an idea about what is going on for you and what you would like to gain from counselling, and you can get an idea about how I work and whether I am the right counsellor for you. I can also answer any questions that you might have.
Practice description
Before setting up in private practice, I worked for a private counselling service and worked with clients all over the UK online and by telephone. I am passionate about working in this way and have seen how it has benefited many clients.
Having online or telephone counselling has become a very popular option as you can fit your counselling sessions around you. There are no travelling costs or times to take into consideration. You can have the sessions in your own home with your home comforts around you. Online and telephone counselling has been found to be just effective as face-to-face.
I understand that you may feel nervous about having counselling and I want to assure you that we will go at your pace. You can ask me any questions you feel you need to and I will support you all the way through your counselling journey. My main focus will be putting you and your needs at the centre of our work together.
Counselling sessions are for as long you need them and can be weekly or fortnightly. We will review the therapy together as we progress through the sessions to make sure you are getting what you need and that it is working for you. If at any point you feel you are ready to leave counselling, then we will work towards an ending together.
My first session
I offer a free initial 20 minute session by Zoom or telephone.
The initial free session is a chance for you to see if you feel comfortable talking to me and for me to hear more about what brings you to counselling and for us both to get an idea if I am the right fit to be your counsellor.
At the end of the initial free session if you feel you would like to book in for your first full session you can do so there and then or you can, of course, take some time to think about it and get back to me if you wish.
In the first full session we will firstly go through the counselling contract that I will have already sent to you by email. This outlines things such as confidentiality. I will also ask you a few questions about your situation. You can then take some time to share with me about what is going on for you and we will be able to explore more about what you would like to get out of the counselling. At the end of the session if you feel that you would like to continue then you can book in for another session or you can take some time and get back to me. There is no pressure to continue, I am more concerned about you getting the support that feels right for you.
What I can help with
