About me and my therapy practice
Hello and welcome.
Are you struggling with the pressures of day to day life or the challenges of modern living? In addition, perhaps, to the global challenges facing us all? These issues can leave us feeling depleted and overwhelmed. Anxiety and depression now rate as the leading issues affecting those searching for support. Maybe that’s you? Or you could be struggling with bereavement, ill health, ageing, anger, life changes to name just a few. You may be seeking change and just feel stuck.
I’m an experienced Humanistic Counsellor and have supported many people just like you, struggling with these and other issues. Working together and at your pace we will explore whatever issue is uppermost for you. From our first session together, I will tailor my approach to support you with the challenges you are facing now. I believe we all have innate resources to draw upon and so, work with you, towards finding ways that help you to discover your unique strengths.
I trained as a counsellor after many years of my own therapy and personal development. I understand the depths of despair, struggle and isolation, clients can experience. I bring this knowing to my work with clients, it is informed and authentic. It helps me to connect to your experience. My work is based on current and up to date research into the mind/body connection and I attend regular CPD and training events.
I provide a safe and confidential space for you to explore any issues that are preventing you from living your life fully. I work in a way that encourages empathy and self-compassion and am committed to working with and alongside you on your journey. I always respect your privacy and autonomy.
I look forward to meeting you soon.
Warmly, Deborah

My first session
In our first session we will explore what has brought you to counselling at this time. You will have an opportunity to share and describe what issues are impacting you now. In this first session I may ask you about your history and any underlying issues; including what support networks you might have in place. We'll also explore resources and self care. This is an opportunity for you to see how I work and what you might expect from a typical session. Please ask any questions you have about therapy.
I can see you either face to face for 50 minutes or via Zoom. I'm happy to have a brief phone call or, if you prefer, a free 20 minute online call.
