About me and my therapy practice
Hello, and welcome to my profile.
I provide one-to-one counselling for adults and young people aged 12+. I offer sessions in person, online, by telephone and outdoors.
There are many different reasons why you may seek counselling, and no reason is too much, too little or “wrong”. You may be struggling with something specific, or you may simply have a feeling that something in your life isn’t quite right. Whatever the reason, I'm here to support you.
WHAT I OFFER
Before you commit to working with me it's important that you get a sense of whether I'm someone you'd feel comfortable working with, so I offer an initial, no-obligation telephone consultation of around 20 minutes. This gives us an opportunity to talk a little about what has brought you to counselling and for you to ask any questions you may have. Finding the right therapist is important, and there is no pressure to decide anything during our conversation. If you do feel you'd like to work with me, we can then discuss booking our first session.
I believe that every person is unique, with their own experiences, circumstances and ways of understanding the world. As an integrative counsellor working from a person-centred perspective, I adapt the way I work to you rather than expecting you to fit into a particular approach. We will work collaboratively, and I may draw on different therapeutic approaches, strategies and techniques where I feel they could be helpful to you.
I have extensive experience of working with neurodivergent adults and young people, and I am gender-affirming.
I am an approved therapist with BUPA, Aviva, AXA and Vitality.

Practice description
You can choose to work with me in-person, online, by phone or outdoors. There are benefits to each way of working, and it depends what you feel is right for you. I'm happy to discuss each option with you.
In our sessions we might talk about what's happening for you now, explore past experiences, develop an understanding of patterns in your thoughts, feelings or relationships, or simply have space to make sense of things which are feeling difficult or overwhelming. We will always take things at your pace, and you don't need to know exactly what you want to talk about when you arrive.
For me, counselling isn't about telling you what you should do or giving you all the answers. You are the expert in your own life, and my role is to support you in understanding yourself more deeply, working things through and finding your own way forward.
Through counselling, you may develop greater self-awareness, confidence and self-reliance, process experiences that have impacted your life, or feel more empowered to make choices that are right for you. My hope is that, over time, you can feel more able to trust yourself and your own ability to navigate life's challenges
My first session
After our initial free telephone consultation, if you decide you'd like to go ahead with counselling we will book our first session. In this session we'll begin to build our therapeutic relationship, and I will explore with you in more depth how things are for you right now, what coping strategies you have, what you'd like to work towards.
All sessions last for 55 minutes and we will discuss together whether our work will be long or short-term and how frequently we will meet.
