About me and my therapy practice
My approach is warm, collaborative and integrative. I believe meaningful therapy begins with a trusting therapeutic relationship and developing a more compassionate and understanding relationship with yourself.
I am a ±«ÓãÊÓƵAccredited psychotherapist with an MSc in Psychology, a PGDip in Psychodynamic Therapeutic Counselling and a PGDip in Psychological Therapy. My professional development has included further training in attachment and neuroscience, Gottman Method Couples Therapy and other integrative approaches. I am currently undertaking a certificate in Jungian dream analysis.
Many people I work with appear capable and high-functioning on the outside, while internally feeling overwhelmed, exhausted or disconnected from themselves. You may have spent years putting others' needs before your own, taking responsibility for how others feel, struggling to say no, or believing you always need to cope. These patterns can contribute to burnout, anxiety, low self-worth, relationship difficulties or reliance on alcohol, food or other ways of switching off.
I also work with neurodivergent clients, including people with ADHD and autistic traits, particularly around masking, overwhelm and perfectionism.
Rather than focusing only on symptoms, we explore what may be happening underneath them. I draw on psychodynamic and attachment-based therapy alongside neuroscience, Internal Family Systems (IFS) and inner-child work to understand how earlier experiences may have shaped the patterns and protective strategies you carry today.
My approach is not about judging or trying to "fix" you. We approach these patterns with curiosity and compassion. I adapt therapy to you rather than expecting you to fit a particular model, helping you develop greater self-understanding, healthier boundaries, more fulfilling relationships and a life that feels authentically your own.
Practice description
I offer a warm, confidential and non-judgemental space where you can talk openly about what is happening in your life, without needing to have everything figured out before you come to therapy.
Our first sessions give us an opportunity to get to know one another and explore what has brought you to counselling and what you would like to gain from it. Some people come with a very clear difficulty, while others simply know that something no longer feels right. Both are valid starting points.
My practice particularly welcomes people experiencing burnout, people-pleasing, perfectionism, anxiety, relationship difficulties, addiction or unhelpful coping patterns. I also work with neurodivergent clients, including those with ADHD or autistic traits, and people exploring whether neurodivergence may be part of their experience.
You may be someone who appears strong and capable to others but feels exhausted, overwhelmed or disconnected underneath. Perhaps you have spent much of your life looking after others, taking responsibility, adapting or trying to meet expectations, and somewhere along the way have lost touch with what you need.
Therapy with me is collaborative and tailored to you. I will listen carefully and offer a supportive space, but I can also gently challenge you and help you notice patterns that may be difficult to see alone. There is no expectation that you talk about anything before you are ready and no single "right" way to do therapy.
My aim is to help you understand yourself more deeply, develop a kinder relationship with yourself, establish healthier boundaries and make choices that feel more authentically your own.
My first session
The first session is an opportunity for us to meet, talk about what has brought you to therapy and begin to understand what you would like support with.
There is no need to prepare anything in advance or to know exactly what you want to talk about. We can explore this together. I will ask some questions about what is happening in your life now, your background and any previous experience of therapy, but you are always in control of what you choose to share.
Just as importantly, the first session gives you an opportunity to get a sense of me and how I work. I believe that the relationship between therapist and client is an important part of successful therapy, so it matters that you feel comfortable enough for us to work together.
Towards the end of the session, we can discuss what you would like from therapy and whether continuing to work together feels right for you. There is no obligation to make a long-term commitment.
Sessions last 50 minutes and are usually arranged weekly, although we can discuss what works best for you.
