About me and my therapy practice
As an experienced Person-centred counsellor, my approach is relational and empathic, based on Person-centred humanistic theory, although I sometimes incorporate other ways of working into my practice. I believe fundamentally in offering a space which feels welcoming, accepting, supportive and non-judgemental whilst you consider your thoughts and feelings around whatever brings you to counselling.
Practice description
Having qualified as a counsellor in 2006, I have a great deal of experience in working with a variety of issues and concerns, such as depression, anxiety, relationships, work-related issues, health concerns, grief and loss, LGBTQIA+, trauma, etc, though this list is not exhaustive. However, I believe in meeting you where you are and developing a professional therapeutic relationship which will enable you to feel trusting enough of the space and of me to share what may be going on for you. This is the foundation of counselling work and is imperative to the work, so it’s important to ensure you are working with someone you feel comfortable with.I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and so am bound by their code of ethics. To support my ethical practice, I maintain my skills and knowledge by taking additional training and engaging in regular continuing professional development, and I have regular clinical supervision.
I appreciate that it can be difficult to decide whether someone may be the right counsellor for you based on what is written here, especially when you may be feeling vulnerable, so I welcome you to contact me to discuss how I work and whether I may be the right counsellor for you.
I offer a free 15-minute online session, which will enable us to discuss how I work and for me to find out a little bit more about you and what you might want or need from counselling.
My first session
I offer 50-minute counselling sessions; usually held on a weekly basis, but I can work to other schedules if preferred. Our work can be open-ended, short-term or long-term work.
Sessions can be held online via Doxy or Zoom, in person, or we can discuss a blended approach.
Once we have booked the first session, I will send you a counselling agreement which outlines how I work and what I can offer. I will also send you a questionnaire so that you can give me some background around what brings you to counselling and what you may want from the work, including any concerns you may have around coming for counselling. This gives me an opportunity to understand a bit more about you.
When we meet for our first session, we will discuss the content of questionnaire and this will give us an opportunity to discuss in more depth how we might work together to meet your needs and any objectives you might have for counselling. At the end of the session, there is no obligation to book further sessions, but if you wish to continue, we can book another session.

About me and my therapy practice
I am an experienced counsellor, qualified clinical supervisor and registered member of the BACP, offering supervision to trainee and qualified counsellors via either Doxy or Zoom online platforms.
My supervision practise is underpinned by my Person-centred approach, but I aim to offer a supervisory relationship which is supportive of you and your practice, whilst also being gently challenging where needed. I strongly believe that supervision is more than just discussing client work, but instead, it incorporates your wellbeing as a practitioner, discussing any struggles or challenges you may be having, alongside what may be going on in the work with your client, or how you might develop your practice. I offer an 'all aspects approach' via the 7-eyed model, to oversee safe and ethical practice, whilst also incorporating an anti-oppressive approach.
I have been a course tutor on CPCAB courses (levels 2-4) for the past 10 years, so I have an in-depth understanding of what counselling training requires and so if you are a trainee counsellor, I am happy to also support you in a supervisory capacity for your training and to complete any relevant supervision reports etc that may be required by your training provider.
Free initial session:
I offer a free 15-minute online session to discuss how we might work together and whether I may be the right supervisor for you.

(*Please note: Supervisees must ensure that they have sufficient supervision to meet the requirements of their membership body and/or training course).

My first session
During our first session, we can discuss how we might work together, any previous experience of supervision you may have had and how this was for you. Our first session will give me an opportunity to get to know a bit more about you and your practice and for you to ask any questions. You can then decide whether you wish to continue working with me and to book any further sessions if you wish to.
