About me and my therapy practice

I am a humanistic, person-centred therapist which means an emphasis on allowing space for exploration, reflection and expression of emotions. Our sessions will offer a way for you to explore difficult experiences and try to resolve personal or professional dilemmas. For example, working through grief and loss, relationship issues, depression and anxiety, trauma, identity and experiences of discrimination, stress, life changes and transitions.

Compassion and acceptance key values I hold and living with a sense purpose and balance runs throughout my approach both personally and professionally.

Practice description

I offer sessions to fit around client's availability and consideration of an individual's therapeutic needs. I work over short to midterm, following an initial assessment session which will involve contracting to agree times, focus of sessions, confidentiality and to see if I am the most appropriate therapist for you.

Working remotely, via telephone or teams / zoom and with clear boundaries and ethical practice you can expect to work with an empathic, open and honest, experienced therapist.

I have 26 years of experience working within a variety of contexts and settings including private practice, Employee Assistance Programmes, voluntary and public sector including NHS staff support services and Counselling for Depression within Talking Therapies. I also have experience of training, group facilitation, reflective practice, trauma informed interventions and clinical supervision.

I am committed to social justice and equality and work to relate to people with respect to cultural, social and personal considerations. I am experienced in offering insight, support and responses to a wide range of issues.

My first session

The initial session is an opportunity to answer any questions, set the scene in terms of what has led you to seek therapy and what you can expect from our work together. Also to clarify practicalities in terms of cost, timing and length of sessions, issues around confidentiality and assess any immediate wellbeing needs. I will require contact details and will confirm the process of keeping minimal records.  I see the initial meeting as a two-way process which helps sets the scene for the following sessions.
