About me and my therapy practice
I work in person or online (Zoom) or a combination of both, with individuals and groups.
I have been providing therapy for 25 years and supervision for 15. years.
I am a Metanoia primary supervisor.
I supervise trainee and qualified counsellors and psychotherapists. I work in counselling agencies and charities providing supervision to individual and groups in a variety of supporting roles such as young people, bereavement, trauma, abuse.
I have taught on counselling courses to various levels.
I also spent 10 years as a trainer in a charity, providing training to their support workers, before providing training on a more freelance basis.
I value my own supervision and access it in a variety of ways. I continue to receive great benefit from it.
Practice description
I work with trainees as they grapple with the learning and academic requirements of their courses, and with qualified and more experienced practitioners as they develop their professionalism and ongoing practice .
I aim to provide a place of safety where a person can expose vulnerability and learn to take risks.
I find it very worthwhile to be able to assist practitioners to develop and expand therapeutic self-awareness through non-judgemental curiosity, exploration and collaboration.
My first session
The first session is a place where the supervisee and myself get a sense of each other before committing to an ongoing supervision relationship. I will find out a little bit of the supervisee and their history, their chosen modality and they are free to ask me questions, and express their hopes and expectations for the supervision. I will explain my expectations for the work, eg. the working contract, and how to present the work clearly and efficiently.
