Opening in February 2026, our accredited member to senior accredited member (SCoPEd column B to C) route 1: Streamlined route will be for accredited members who have completed a ±«ÓãÊÓÆµaccredited or approved column C progression training course since their initial accreditation.

Eligibility criteria overview

To apply you’ll need to:Ìý

  • be an accreditedÌýmember of BACP
  • be practising as a counsellor and or psychotherapist. You must have been in practice for at least four years when you apply for senior accreditation
  • have successfully completed and received an award from a ±«ÓãÊÓÆµaccredited or approved column C progression training course or qualification, since your initial accreditation
  • have completed a minimum of 50 hours of supervised counsellor or psychotherapist practice since your initial accreditation
  • have completed 160 hours of personal therapy or personal development work that has contributed to self-awareness and is applicable to therapeutic practice
  • have an ongoing current contract for counselling or psychotherapy supervision for a minimum of 1.5 hours per month
  • have been supervised for at least 1.5 hours per month throughout the period of practice submitted

The application fee will be £80. There is financial support available for eligible members.Ìý

If you currently hold a validated Level 7 (or equivalent) counselling or psychotherapy qualification and meet the eligibility criteria and feel ready to do so, you can apply for the revised senior accredited membership now. Transition period applications will close on Friday 30 January. If you choose to apply during the transition period we’d encourage you to apply well ahead of the closing date.
