1. W³ó²¹³Ù’s the difference between a ±«ÓãÊÓƵcourse accreditation scheme and a ±«ÓãÊÓƵApproved Qualification scheme? Ìý
±«ÓãÊÓƵCourse Accreditation scheme:
±«ÓãÊÓƵhas a direct relationship with the training provider and the course staff. It is BACP’s responsibility to ensure the course accreditation criteria are met through the initial application and assessment process, and that these standards are maintained through the annual review process.
±«ÓãÊÓƵApproved Qualifications:
±«ÓãÊÓƵhas a direct relationship with the awarding body who awards the final qualification. Awarding bodies need to demonstrate to ±«ÓãÊÓƵthat the criteria are being met by their centres delivering the approved qualification. This process requires the awarding body to demonstrate to ±«ÓãÊÓƵwhat their processes and procedures are for maintaining standards at their centres, which ±«ÓãÊÓƵthen approves if the standard is met.
2. What are BACP’s progression training courses?Ìý
BACP’s accredited or approved progression training courses will enable qualified practitioners to further develop their knowledge and skills and achieve a formal, recognised qualification mapped to the SCoPEd framework. Organisations may have or wish to develop a progression training that encompasses competences from the SCoPEd framework columns B or C.  Ìý
3. W³ó²¹³Ù’s the difference between a ±«ÓãÊÓƵaccredited progression course and a ±«ÓãÊÓƵapproved progression qualification?
The standards that ±«ÓãÊÓƵaccredited and approved progression courses and qualifications need to meet are the same. In addition, the benefits for graduates of these courses are the same.
The only difference is the relationship that ±«ÓãÊÓƵhas with the centres delivering the training.
In the ±«ÓãÊÓƵAccreditation progression course scheme, ±«ÓãÊÓƵhas a direct relationship with the training provider and the course staff. It is BACP’s responsibility to ensure the course accreditation criteria are met through the initial application and assessment process, and that these standards are maintained through the annual review process.
In the ±«ÓãÊÓƵApproved progression qualification scheme ±«ÓãÊÓƵhas a direct relationship with the awarding body who awards the final qualification.
4. What are the benefits for members who complete a progression training course?
±«ÓãÊÓƵmembers completing a ±«ÓãÊÓƵaccredited progression course or an approved progression qualification will be able to apply for a ±«ÓãÊÓƵaccreditation route that takes the qualification into account once they have accumulated sufficient supervised practice hours and can meet the other eligibility criteria. As the progression training courses will be aligned to the competences in the SCoPEd frameworks columns, members won’t have to demonstrate they meet the SCoPEd column B or C competences in their accreditation application as these will have been covered in their progression training. Graduates from ±«ÓãÊÓƵaccredited and approved progression courses will still need to meet BACP’s unique standards for accreditation and senior accreditation which includes two reflective practice criteria on your way of working and case material.
6. What are the eligibility criteria for applying to join a progression training course?Ìý
